An honor to be showing with @log3y and @jocelynhyt8 in XYZ Access. Opening this Saturday 5/9 @fjord_ from 6-9PM. Would love to see y’all there. 💚 XYZ Access  PHILADELPHIA, PA — This May, FJORD is excited to announce XYZ Access, featuring work by Logan Elise Crompton, Jocelyn Tsui and Ryan Scails. This exhibition was curated by Sean M. Starowitz from the FJORD 2025 Open Call submissions and runs May 9th to June 13th 2026. Taking inspiration from perforation logic and the doubling of perception, XYZ Access explores how we navigate boundaries between the body and the spaces it occupies within physical and digital realities. By employing the grid as a framework for recording the familiar, the artists reveal underlying patterns within our domestic and digital lives, suggesting that what often feels like chance is, in fact, deeply structural. By distilling the complexities of 21st-century life into a series of coordinates through image, print and sculpture, XYZ Access invites viewers to look at their own surroundings with a renewed sense of curiosity. Compton utilizes grids as a primary tool for mapping and charting the recurring imagery of immediate life. Tsui’s work investigates the geopolitical perforation of space and place, such as the infamous Kowloon Walled City. Scails’ work embodies thresholds in physical forms, interrogating access and the pursuit of empirical knowledge.  The community is invited for an opening reception Saturday May 9th from 6-9pm. FJORD is open 1-5pm on Saturdays and by appointment. To schedule an appointment please email [email protected]

Excited to be showing a few pieces alongside many talented artists in Remnants and Relics @anonymoussocietygallery Opening reception this Thursday 11/6 from 6-8PM. . . . . Show’s up from 11.6-11.28 🌾 . . A remnant is more than a fragment of the past. It carries the weight of memory and the texture of lived experience. A relic, whether humble or revered, invites reflection on what endures and why. Together, they form a language of preservation, where each object or image becomes a vessel for meaning…Fragments, traces, and collected forms emerge as records of both personal and collective histories. Each work considers how what we keep and what remains connects to larger narratives of identity, culture, and time.

I have a piece in the Quilt Show happening in West Philly this Saturday at the Kingsessing Rec Center tennis courts from 1-4PM. Come thru if you can! 🧶 . . Last year I had the honor of showing a family heirloom log cabin quilt on behalf of my great grandmother and her sisters. Quilting is one of the greatest art forms we have, and continuing that legacy is my way of communicating with my Nana and the Shields sisters; who would bring quilts to work on while traveling north for many visits over the years. 🪡

Watermelon, red cowpeas, okra, black-eyed peas, didn’t arrive in North America because of migratory animals or pollinators; they were brought here via the desperate ingenuity of my ancestors facing an uncertain future. They braided seeds into their hair and made necklaces from the specimens large enough to be strung together. An immeasurable amount of faith and grace to build a garden they may never see, is why these plants exist here. Channeling these profound gestures, that’ve shaped the lives of every person reading this, my interest in tool-making is less concerned with the Great Disaster or the many other catastrophic interventions that preceded it, but more with how we got through and supported one another with steadfast community. This work, Ark, is emblematic of the clandestine operations carried out for generations to sustain life. It is rooted in the mystical practices we brought with us, some still alive in Africatown or in the vibrant customs of the Gullah Geechee, and exemplifies a safe pathway forward.
