Thank you to the city for showing UP last night and making our opening a smashing success. Many of the works are for sale so please reach out if you are interested in a piece. Today in the shop, we will also be showcasing a small selection of vintage curated shakers sourced by the YOWIE team for purchase. If you have any good photos or videos from last night please share them for our recap! A million thanks to the 100+ artists who created work for the show and their many friends and family who came to celebrate them. Last night we spent the night at @helloyowie with @philaprint and had the absolute best time meeting and hanging with everyone! With the help of the community of people who came to celebrate (and 94 year old Joan, our Philly puzzle queen who worked tirelessly for nearly 3 hours) we completed Pieceful Protest, together, which is what this whole puzzle is really all about. 🥹
Thank you to everyone who came and everyone who made it their mission to finish the puzzle. And the biggest thank you to Shannon and Maryam @maryampugh_ for making this whole dream a reality. 🩷
We were lucky enough to photograph our Peaceful Protest collaborator @maryampugh_ ’s grandmother, Joan Allen, doing our puzzle in her home outside of Philly. Joan is a big puzzler but said “She would never pick out this puzzle” LOL which cracked us up. Something we love about grandparents, they say exactly what they think. She and Maryams aunt, Sandye Dutton as well as her cousin all sat down around her dining room table to work on the puzzle together which felt like a full circle moment considering we’ve been working on this puzzle with @philaprint for OVER A YEAR! We listened to her stories and smooth jazz tv channel, and we left when she told us we needed to get out so she could go to the rec room to watch a concert pianist play. <3
If you’re in the Philly area this Friday 5/1 (May Day!) come to @helloyowie for our Peaceful protest launch party! It’s free and going to be so fun!
The making of Pieceful Protest with @philaprint !! Such a fun shoot day for a puzzle we can’t wait to celebrate at @helloyowie this Friday!! We hope to see you there🤭
Thank you @purewow for honoring YOWIE Hotel & Shop in your inaugural Travel Awards. We won in the categories “Winning Destination” and “Best Family-Friendly Vacation for Urbanites”. We’d love to be your home base this Summer during your time in Philadelphia but we just have one note: Jim’s Steaks @jimssouthstreet and Ishkabibble’s @ishkabibbles01 are just a block away so no need to go south for a cheesesteak! It’s going to be an action packed season and as always some of the best architecture, food, and places to hang in the country. Book your stay at helloyowie.com/hotel/booking
New ceramics by Domenic Frunzi are here to charm your kitchen, desktop, vanity, and weekly fruit haul. We’re obsessed with the chartreuse oil cruet! Each piece is handmade in Philadelphia✨ #onlyatYOWIE
