I was going for a look that was timeless, sophisticated and with a hint of nostalgia. I wanted to keep the camera moving so the short film felt dynamic and that you were whisked in and out of it. Great news that “Black” has been selected for the Crystal Palace International Film Festival 2026 @crystalpalacefilmfestival . The film highlights the risks and rewards of a life and career in boxing. It was an important and poignant film to work on and I’m pleased that it is having the success it is having after winning 2 British Arrows and a 1.4 award in 2025. DP | 🙋🏻‍♂️ Model | @ola.traska Location | Lisbon Stills from a fashion film I shot in collaboration with Dehancer. I’m reviewing their Dehancer Pro film emulation plugin for Adobe Premiere and that’s coming out on my Youtube Channel this week. I also had the chance to shoot with @ola.traska who collaborated with me on this and was a joy to work with - especially because we had to get this done in a very narrow time window and we worked well together. I graded the film using Dehancer Pro in Adobe Premiere by first doing a basic pass in Lumetri before choosing my film stock and tweaking it Dehancer. I was pretty impressed considering I shot this on the Fuji GFX100ii. Back to 2016 with stills from Trendy, the feature film I shot for director Louis Lagayette. We were starting pre production around this time a decade ago and we went on to principal photography for 7 weeks during the Spring, mostly in East London. We then shot pickups for 2 weeks in 2017 with the film premiering later that year at Raindance. Trendy was an immense challenge with a large cast and many locations. I lit around 70 sets over the 7 week period and walked away with pride knowing we had achieved this in such a short amount of time. Being a low budget feature film it wasn’t without its challenges. I was warned before the shoot that I wouldn’t be able to focus solely on cinematography and I quickly found this to be true as I spent a lot of my time answering questions for other departments. I learned how important it was to prioritise and to accept what could realistically be done with the time we had. With the sheer amount of locations it felt like we never stopped moving. The camera didn’t leave my shoulder as most of the film was shot handheld and the long days took a toll on my mind and body. I started to keep track of my sleep and was averaging 3 hours a night because of the workload. By the end of the shoot I was exhausted. There was a near miss in the car on the way to set as well as a point where my body just gave up on me due to fatigue. I decided that I wouldn’t ever put myself through such sleep deprivation ever again. I learned for the first time on this film that some things were more important than filmmaking. My favourite scenes to light were the club scenes and the dog fighting scenes. This was mostly due to the scale of the lighting setups and how I felt I could express myself creatively. The club scenes had hundreds of extras and I loved working around the energy of so many people. I had some great experiences during this shoot, learned a lot and made some lifelong friends, some of whom I still work with. Looking back it’s hard to believe it’s been a decade since Trendy. It reminds me how time flies by so quickly and that I should live for the moment when life is so fleeting.

Run Dry | Save Our Soles Dir | @rsandersondir DP | @rwpreisner Talent | @r.freitasb1 , @laura__nmnn Prod Co | AVA Modelis Creative Grade | Jamie Morgan @jamiecolour @no8ldn New commercial work for 2026, shot in Lisbon for @saveoursoleshq We were faced with the challenge to shoot a concept based entirely around rain starting at the end of a long, dry summer. It hadn’t rained for a while in Lisbon so we had to get creative with how we created rain, puddles and mud. We also had to keep the camera protected from waves of water and showers causing any damage. This became a constant juggling act for a shoot that was spread out over quite a long period of the time due to the need for a variety of locations. We got lucky sometimes and once the rain came we made the decision to shoot at the back end of a storm that had travelled across the Atlantic. This allowed us to discover urban waterfalls that had formed because the drainage system couldn’t cope with the sheer amount of water and created some really cool walls of water we could shoot through. I was fortunate as I got to wear a coat and protective clothing for this shoot but António was constantly cold and wet. If it wasn’t raining we made sure to pour freezing cold water on him so there wasn’t a moment he could really escape that 😬 I shot all of the opening effects shots with water in a water tank and there were hours of experiments that weren’t used, we probably could have made 10 commercials of just that. We also shot through liquids and into reflections as a reoccurring motif throughout to give the impression of always being in contact with water. We shot out of vehicles, in forests, on roads, through trails, by rivers, on the beach, in apartments, in a shower, in downpours, in glorious sunshine and in gale force winds so we really covered a lot of bases on this one. Thanks to @rsandersondir for getting me involved, it was a lot of fun to build this over the couple of months we worked on it. Uma Carta Para o Verão Dir & DP | Richard William Preisner Grade | @filipe_fernandes_grade Prod Co | AVA Modelis Creative Stills from the short fashion film I shot with @pinkunicorn.model on a beach near Lisbon as the summer came to an end. The translation of the title is “A Letter To Summer”. I wanted to capture some genuine moments of joy from Vlada mixed in with more structured modelling moments. We had our backs against the wall with light fading and as we got to the location we lost the planned sunset to an overcast sky. We made the most of what nature gave to us and our experience of working together many times before meant that we could make something happen, even with our backs against the wall with time.
