As a woman, once an immigrant kid, now a brown mother to three brown kids, and as an artist painting the homelands I hope will exist for us all, this moment leaves me speechless and stunned and still a believer in what it is to be one of the threads in an American story. A heartfelt thank you to Renu Agrawal and David Weber for being art champions and loaning this work towards this memorable moment for me. Thank you to the @jessicasilvermangallery team for their support. A shout out to the @icasanfrancisco team where this work first found room to breathe. Starting tomorrow, you can see my work “Portrait of A Woman” at the National Portrait Gallery in “The Outwin 2025: American Portraiture Today” exhibition. My artwork is one of the thirty-four finalists selected from thousands in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition. Please visit “The Outwin 2025: American Portraiture Today” @smithsoniannpg starting this Saturday, January 24.

I got to spend more time at the Hornik residence today to chat with David Hornik about Alice in Wonderland, the current subject of all my days in the studio for the upcoming book edition by @arionpress Pamela and David weave together many moments of warmth for all their visitors and with art present everywhere in the room, your heart and eyes travel from one work to the next like stopping under the shade of a tree on a very warm day. Grateful to experience the warmth and shade of one of their best roles as art guardians. ✨🙌🏼 Resharing• @pamelahornik Celebrating @rupyctut and @arionpress at our home tonight. @davidhornik chatted with @rupyctut about the upcoming book at @arionpress that she is working on.

To my favorite warrior clan: mothers! It’s an imperfect role, with imperfect outcomes, and tons of imperfect moments. I love it.

Pigments are creatures for me. Each behaves differently, each has its own generosity and each has its own stubbornness. I try to bend to them and when I can’t, speaking a few Punjabi phrases (I would not speak in front of my parents) gets me through.

So delighted and excited to share these glimpses of the @asianartmuseum @arionpress kick off Tea/Cha celebration of the forthcoming edition of “Alice in Wonderland” featuring my work. Thank you to the beautiful art champions who filled the room and enjoyed a tea with a twist inspired by one of my Alice paintings. Making paintings for each chapter of Alice has been fulfilling, fun, and out of routine in so many ways. Investigating a work of literature from the many perspectives of narrative, color, shape, characters and nature fills me with wonder that I hope we all get to experience in this upcoming edition. This book will be made by hand, A-Z, type to cover, featuring my 12 paintings, one for each chapter. Can’t wait for October!!

My intention has been to create a world that immerses the audience into the movements and flows of one entire day. In this day to night transition, I hope friends have a chance to feel joy and awe together of seeing a sunrise, of sitting at the edge of a pond with fireflies, or even swaying to a starry night sky. It’s everything I would want to see and do with my dearest friends and what I hope the Art Bash audience enjoys tonight @sfmoma Thankful to my amazing team! ✨Jessica Gibson @riseandrender for Animation and holding my hand through the adventure of animating my paintings. ✨Wolfgang Wachalovky @wwachalovsky for being excited at the possibility and my joy for projections as a way to take up and create space. ✨Amarjit Sahota @amophonic for finding and curating sounds that mimic the joy and wonder of this entire experience. ✨Nadhi Thekkek @navadancesf for bringing in the deeper layer of dance and emoting the joy of shared experiences through the special performance tonight at 8:30pm and 10:30pm. Thank you to @shruti_abhishek and @janzsteps for your mastery of dance and being a part of this. ✨My wonderful gallery team @jessicasilvermangallery @owenchristoph for being the best cheerleaders. ✨and the amazing @sfmoma team who never said “no” and kept this all together and moving smoothly. See you all tonight! I am wearing green 💚What about you?

Dad said I looked like a baba (spiritual leader) today. Something to do with the clothes and the beads. I think it’s a great backup career. Me and my mango grove.

“Into the Woods” opens today @jessicasilvermangallery I had the best time making this work for this group show. Trees are like loved ones for me and here is a grove of loved ones from a place I love, a place that exists, a place I hope to see in my dreams and real life, as often as possible. Hug your loved ones and hug your favorite trees. “Mango Grove, Bassi Pathanan, Punjab” Handmade pigments on linen 60”x40” 2026
