If you’ve had a conversation with @crispsredden or I recently, there’s a chance we’ve mentioned our book project @merantau_stories 📚
Merantau (meaning to explore, wander or impermanently migrate in Bahasa) seeks to capture the experience of the Indonesian diaspora community in Naarm/Melb, telling stories with food as the conduit. The cultural exchange we’ve been documenting between Australia and Indonesia is a tiny part of a long history that began pre-European colonisation with the trade of trepang (sea cucumber) that brought Makassan fisherman to the shores of Northeast Arnhem Land. It’s been a real special project so far and we can’t wait to see where it goes ❣️

You’re invited to an art fundraiser at @idletimestudio raising funds for @para.foundation this Friday evening 17th May 7pm–late + daytime hours over the weekend (by appointment).
There’ll be art for sale, a raffle and drinks with all proceeds going to PARA. Cash preferred but card available for $10 entry, drinks and raffle. Art sales will be a direct donation to PARA and will be tax deductible. If you can’t make it but want to purchase some art, we’ll open up sales via @system.f.ailure account on Saturday with sales closing Sunday eve.

vox populi is an anthology of voices from Naarm. I really loved working on this one and reading all of the beautiful stories. I ❤️ this city.
