It is the last few days to catch Ellen Hanson’s (@ellenrhanson ) solo exhibition ‘Pozo de la Muerte’ (directly translated to Well of Death) at General Expenses (@generalexpenses ) !! 🏃♀️✈️
Congratulations to Ellen on this new body of work and vast achievement! Ruby/Dakota is proud to have shown Ellen’s work here in NYC as part of a duo show with Erica Newton, ‘Stretch Mark,’ last May.
From the press release, written by Rebeca Leal Singer:
“Ellen Hanson, based in Mexico, explores ideas of losing control, falling, and above all, the brutality inherent in what becomes public: the performance of collapse, the body exposed to the intrusive gaze that watches.
In this series, Hanson delves deeper into a recurring theme in her work: the intersection of failure and femininity.”

Amanda Guest (@a_gglimpse ) has some wonderful work up at @tempest.gallery in a very tender 3-person show, “How I learned to carve, and how I don’t need to know that anymore” through March 14.
Amanda has shown with Ruby/Dakota twice; in our inaugural exhibition, “Home is You, Right Now” and “Survivor Girl.” Her work is rooted in architecture, textile, and the quiet roar of connection and pain within a female body. I recommend you go see in person. 🤍

There are just two weeks left to see "Feet Pics" at Ruby/Dakota (@rubydakota ).
In addition to the honor of co-curating this exuberant exhibition, I was invited to contribute an artwork centered on the theme of foot fetish. For the occasion, I produced a diptych digital print on canvas documenting a collaboration with an anonymous individual known as Trashman739, with whom we once sold our "trashed shoes" on eBay for beer money. The artwork features the original eBay listing alongside one of the enthusiastic and questionable messages received from the collector.
I hope you have a chance to visit the exhibition before it closes!
