@roxykaczmarek Plant Studies, Bedroom Shadows 2022 Silkscreens with hand painting on Arches 300gsm 14,7 x 21 cm Edition 7/10 Framed SOLD We are very excited to be introducing a new artist to you, Roxy Kaczmarek. She has been a long time industry friend to our founder Joy Woolcott. Kaczmarek is a professional printmaker, painter and educator based in Johannesburg. Kaczmarek is a committed ecological artist who has consistently examined the intersections between the natural world and manmade environments. The Plant Studies series came from the habitual practice of sketches made during Kaczmarek’s residency in Germany in 2022. The series Pflanzenkunde reflected where Kaczmarek fostered inspiration of natural and fabricated worlds as intersecting. The sketches examine moments where the sensibilities and relationships between people and nature interplay, aesthetics and the psychology that bring plants into living and working spaces. This work deals with an inquiry into the displacement of plants and their evolution in unknown environments. ‘Shadows from the trees outside cast onto a trapped indoor plant.’

On Tuesday 07 October we welcomed sunbeam-twinkle-toes into the world. An incredible home birth, arriving on the full moon, into the birth pool, an 8:07 breakfast baby, weighing 3,72kgs! She is still deciding her name - but we are close! Her sister is completely smitten as is the rest of the family 🌻💙 We were so lucky she came while Aunty Al was up in joburg! @alzakacza @plurysteve

Unique new paintings by Olivia Pintér are currently being showcased at the David Art Gallery, 151 Jan Smuts Avenue, Parkwood, Johannesburg. The works form part of the artist’s Notes in Flight exhibition which opened to high acclaim last weekend. The exhibition reveals how Pintér channels the abstract shapes of her impulses into the making process - allowing them to guide, resist, and inform each other. These impulses - whether sparked by colour, mood or texture - accumulate into layered compositions where each work holds multiple moments and memories. Join us to experience these wonderful new works first hand! Reminder - Notes in Flight by Olivia Pintér opens this Saturday, 30 August, 11am at David Krut Projects, 151 Jan Smuts Ave, Parkwood. The exhibition features newly created, intricately layered works on paper, made in collaboration with Roxy Kaczmarek, long-term printer at the David Krut Workshop in Johannesburg. Drawing from Pintér’s daily commute, the city’s smog, dust, light, and layered urban textures subtly filter into her practice, shaping the visual and emotional language of these works. Join us for the first viewing of these wonderful new works and the chance to engage with the artist about her process. 📍 Notes in Flight Opening: Saturday, 30 August 2025, 11am David Krut Projects, Parkwood, JHB DM us for an advance copy of the exhibition catalogue. EXHIBITION | Works by South African artist, Roxy Kaczmarek, are currently exhibited at ‘Still Life: A Contemporary arrangement’. Kaczmarek’s work interrogates the intersection of plants and people within liminal spaces of the city. Attempting to break from traditional forms of printmaking, her work often experiments with a combination of print and cement. By bringing attention to marginalised urban greenery in between the spaces controlled by humans, as well as undisturbed natural areas, Kaczmarek focusses on how city dwellers are informed by - and in turn - inform the urban landscape. ‘Still Life: A Contemporary arrangement’ is now showing at the David Krut Gallery, also featuring: Deborah Bell Peter Cohen Boemo Diale (@boemodiale ) Bronwyn Findlay (@bronwenfindlay ) Heidi Fourie (@heidi_fourie ) Heike Jeske (@heiketaschnerjeske ) William Kentridge (@williamkentridgestudio ) Stephen Langa (@stephen_langa_ ) Maja Maljević (@maljevicmaja ) Phumulani Ntuli (@phumulani_ntuli ) Nina Torr (@ninatorr ) Anna van der Ploeg (@annavanderploeg ) Adele van Heerden (@adelevanheerdencreative ) Atworks by the artist in this post: ‘Taking Notes, 2025.’ ‘Inside Looking Out, 2025’ ‘Take a Moment, 2025.’ Framed works by Kaczmarek are available at R3 350.00 each (incl. VAT) at the time of publishing.
