Here’s a new Riso print of my little Albert. Albert came into our lives in December. Here he is carrying something important. I’ll be selling these at our upcoming @soft_serve_projects Mini Mega Market this Saturday at @openwindowinstitute Blairgowrie Campus from 11h00 - 17h00.
Still trying to come up with a title - any suggestions?

Thursday, 09.25, 6-8pm:
Join us for an artist-led, interactive project with Nina Torr and Maaike Bakker!
Our current exhibition, “Counterfactuals,” uncovers new possibilities in the unlikeliest of places, inviting audiences to peer through small paper doors, look into unexpected places, notice repeated motifs, and double-check that we are indeed seeing what we think.
Thursday, September 25, you’re invited to participate in a collage workshop expanding on these ideas. Using fragments collected from works-in-progress and personal archives, the artists will offer an exclusive look into their process of collaging and working in mixed media, through demonstration and discussion. Guests are invited to participate by arranging fragments of text, motifs, and images, with prompting from the artists.
Upon the artists’ return to Johannesburg, the collage will be translated into an exclusive artist book commemorating the event.

See you there!

Collage workshop with Nina Torr and Maaike Bakker
Thank you for your contributions at the "Counterfactuals" opening last Friday! We look forward to finishing this interactive project with your help.
Torr and Bakker are fascinated by the possibilities presented by collaboration, interactivity, and play. Using paper fragments from works-in-progress and personal archives, Torr and Bakker will assemble a large collage with the help of exhibition guests. Upon the artists' return to Johannesburg, the collage will be translated into an exclusive artist book commemorating the event.

Reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions. See you there!

Nina Torr in a series of collaborations that began in 2016 with Johannesburg's David Krut Workshop.
Torr (b. 1987) explores mental landscapes and subverted spaces inhabited by fantastical characters who participate in open-ended narratives.
Her work will be on view alongside work by collaborator Maaike Bakker in our upcoming exhibition "Counterfactuals," opening 6PM Friday, September 12.
Link in bio for more information on Torr, and to listen to her 2023 interview on the David Krut Podcast.
Opening Friday, September 12, 2025, 6PM - 8PM: "Counterfactuals"
We are pleased to welcome South African artists Nina Torr and Maaike Bakker to New York for a pop-up exhibition in our gallery space. Torr and Bakker have been collaborating with David Krut Workshop (DKW) in Johannesburg since 2016 and 2021, respectively, and will be in residence here in New York for the month of September, supported by the Ampersand Foundation.
Conjuring alternate possibilities and doors to parallel universes, "Counterfactuals" suggests a playful, imaginative approach to creative practice. Torr and Bakker each take a fluid approach, embracing new ideas that may arise from a misunderstanding, an unsolved riddle, an overheard conversation, or a happy accident. "Counterfactuals" is informed by creative research and ephemera collected from DKW, the artists’ own personal archives, and the archives of friends and collaborators.
These new works will debut in our New York gallery on September 12, with a special in-gallery presentation on September 25. Stay tuned for more information.
