Weeks posts
little Willow left her body at home yesterday afternoon. sadly, her hyperthyroid medication was hiding chronic kidney disease & we didn't find out until it was too late. it's been a heart-wrenching week watching her deteriorate, but we're very grateful we had time to say goodbye & that her passing was very peaceful. she was an absolute angel right until the end & while it's a relief she's not in pain anymore, she is sorely missed. when i started fostering Willow she was deeply traumatised & had been holed up in the tiny compartments of her cat tower in a ladies garage. it took three months to lure her out of those holes & another few months before I could properly pat her but once I earnt her trust, she was full of so much love. I'm glad I foster failed with her bc it was an absolute honour to watch her confidence grow. by the end of her life, she would: sleep on Bennie & even my dad whenever the opportunity presented itself; she'd come greet strangers and demand affection, when she used to hiss, run & hide; she would stand right in the middle of every loud room & even accepted little Rosa learning gentle hands on her. i'm so so proud that she overcame her trauma & left earthside having loved & been loved. beyond that Willow was: a real goofball, a sweet old lady, a hazard on staircases, a bin scavenger, a bird watcher, a healer. she also had exquisite taste & was often found: wrapped up in/on vintage robes, linen sheets, her nanas quilts & warm laps; or scratching up my parents gross couch. rest in peace Willow Morris, you were a very good girl & you'll always be loved 🐈‍⬛🪽 13.04.2026

Announcing Tender at Chrissie Cotter Gallery from 19 Sept - 5 Oct. Warmly inviting everyone to join the artists at the opening between 2-4pm on Sat 20 Sept. Tender considers how we could create the world we want - a world of safety - for the human and non-human inhabitants. To boldly claim love is the answer to fear and hate is a bit simplistic, but the bonds we create in our communities do strengthen us and allow us to grow, both individually and collectively. To act in slowness with vulnerability, to remember, to listen and to be - are all ways to be tender. The exhibition features women artists working across artistic disciplines, ideas, cultures and topographies to explore tenderness as an act of resistance and care. My piece for Bio(me), an exhibition part of Melbourne Design Week, curated by @spiraro & shown at @novacancygallery 🪵🍂 Photography courtesy of @_mlr0_ (first 3) & @madebymerena (next 2) + dodgy process shots by me (perma)culture, 2025, eucalyptus bark, grass clippings, camellia petals, maple leaves, leaf litter, spinach, cassia fistula, yakka, lasiandra, agapanthus, eucalyptus cinerea, tibouchina, change climate bioresin, raw wooden stump, wooden disk, 60cm diameter x 60cm height (perma)culture explores the uneasy relationship between biomaterial innovation and ecological interruption. Composed of plant pulp and discarded foliage gathered from local gardens, the work embraces waste as material — a living archive of seasonal cycles, community ecosystems, and domestic decay. Yet by encasing this organic matter in bio resin, decomposition is arrested, suspended in a glossy permanence that resists the natural processes it once embodied. Resting on a raw timber stump, the work stages a tension between the compostable and the preserved, the regenerative and the inert. It questions our desire to immortalise the ephemeral, and asks whether "sustainability" in material form can truly exist without surrendering to rot.

am very honoured to receive the highly commended award for my ephemeral/living sculpture, 'perpetual renewal' (& am low-key surprised she's survived the elements)☀️🌀⚡️ if you're around the gong, you can catch it sprouting into a garden at the Nan Tien Institute until march. & that brings me to the end of my chaotic end of year photo dump. tysm to everyone who supported, worked with, collaborated & encouraged me this year, i am so grateful for all the opportunities that came my way & am looking forward to some very exciting things in the works for 2025. happy new year everyone, see ya in the future 🚀 ... 'Perpetual Renewal' 2024, recycled logs, galvanised strapping, seeds, eucalyptus bark, fallen leaves, grass clippings, calendula, jacaranda petals, hydrangea, yakka, lomandra, murrogun leaves, sunflowers, strawflower, Illawarra flame petals, rose petals, invasive weeds, soil, 2m diameter.
