#EducationAsResistance This Sunday, as part of the activations of Horizontal Chalkboard at the MoMA PS1’s Homeroom (@momaps1 ), artist and curator Rodrigo Carazas Portal (@rodr197 ) presents Exorcism an Chisme, in collaboration with the AICAD fellows (@aicadfellowship ).
Exorcism an Chisme is a participatory activation where graduate fellows take the chalkboard floor to gossip, draw, and erase the colonial pedagogical demons they confront every day. The erasure of these symbols of oppression—written onto the chalkboard—becomes a cathartic moment toward collective liberation.
Horizontal Chalkboard is a participatory installation conceived by Miguel Braceli (@miguelbraceli ) and activated by invited artists, poets, educators, and thinkers. Reimagining a familiar classroom tool, this horizontal chalkboard creates a platform for gathering, dialogue, and intervention.

@miguelbraceli invited me to engage with ‘Antonio Caro: Aesthetics of Dispersion’, written by Ericka Flórez, for @laescuela.art ‘Education As Resistance’ @momaps1
The result is an interactive notebook gravitating around concepts of branding, neocolonialism, and knowledge redistribution. The document is an open platform for people to write, draw, add, and take without a hierarchical order.
The exhibition runs until February 23rd. If in NYC, check out this timely, socially engaged project that draws on pedagogical strategies from South America and the Caribbean.

Miguel Braceli me invitó a responder al texto de Ericka Flórez sobre Antonio Caro. El resultado es un cuaderno interactivo gravitando alrededor de conceptos como el ‘branding’, el neocolonialismo y la redistribución de conocimientos.
El documento es una invitación abierta al público para escribir, dibujar, añadir y tomar sin orden jerárquico.
La muestra está abierta hasta Febrero 23 en el MoMA PS1. Si estás en NYC, date una vuelta por esta necesaria muestra que recontextualiza estrategias educativas de Sudamérica y el Caribe.

Poder compartir con ustedes mi trabajo, inspirado en la mitología de la selva, la sierra y la costa del Perú, me llena de gratitud y alegría. 🌿 Cada una de estas esculturas nace de un diálogo con nuestras raíces y busca abrir un espacio de reflexión sobre la memoria y la conexión con lo sagrado en lo cotidiano. Caminando al mercado de madrugada con mis padres empecé a registrar las texturas que construyen los vecindarios de Lima y Callao.
Luego del desayuno, saliendo del mar, recolecte piedras que se enmarañan contra el litoral de nuestra ciudad.
Gracias a Gabriel y @gredabarranco pude materializar lo que esboce bajo el sol, pasando la tarde con amigos, comida y buena musica.
Es un privilegio poder contar con este verano subtropical, mi familia y amigos que me dan chance de descansar del frío gringo.

Early morning walks to the market with my parents gave the space to reflect on the textures that shape the neighborhoods of Lima and Callao.
Down at the beach, after breakfast, I started to collect some of the stones that blanket the city shores.
Thanks to Gabriel and @gredabarranco , I materialized what I plotted on paper in afternoons with friends, food and good music.
The subtropical summer, my family and friends are such a privilige, comforting me during the gringo winter.

A vector drawing of my highschool graffiti tag supports a collection of objects created over 2 years. The flower-like mdf structure blooms byproducts from past collaborations around the world.
