Rooted in the soul of Tango, Rodrigo carries the spirit of Buenos Aires in every breath of his instrument — dramatic, poetic, intense.
 But beyond the arrabales and milongas, his musical heart beats for Bach: the architecture, the depth, the eternity in every line. Two universes, one devotion. Tango passion. Baroque devotion. We're back with our artist spotlights for Tango at the 2025 CU Folk and Roots Festival. First up - Rodrigo Avalos! See Rodrigo twice on October 4-first at his solo show at 6 pm at Hotel Royer and then later that evening at the Milonga @ 2025 CU Folk and Roots Festival, 9 pm at Hotel Royer. ative from Argentina, Rodrigo Avalos is a bandoneon player and composer. He has done numerous international tours and has played at prestigious venues including Teatro Colón, Centro Cultural Kirchner, Usina del Arte, National Intangible Heritage Center in South Korea, Haus Der Musik in Austria, Elon University and Columbia University. He has also played with distinguished artists including Victor Lavallén, José Colángelo, Roberto Alvarez, Susana Rinaldi, among others. He has recorded and produced several albums including Bach en Bandoneón with the Avalos-Solera Duo, La Carmen with his own twelve musicians orchestra, Orquesta Típica La Carmen, and A Medianoche with his violin-bandoneon duo. In 2023 he won the First Prize as a bandoneon player at the "Che Bandoneón International Competition" awarded by the Argentine Tango Society at the Stowe Tango Music Festival in Vermont. That year he was selected for a scholarship by the Fondo Nacional de las Artes in Argentina to develop his compositions. Rodrigo is also an educator and serves as bandoneon professor at the Colegio Nacional de Buenos Aires Tango Orchestra. Get your tickets today: /tickets
