'this is how we survive. how we create ourselves from visions and create our worlds to match' - joan of arc, zia ravenscroft, 2026 DIVINE ACTS was launched just over a month ago and it could not have been a more delightful and joyous evening. Being the recipient of the Ruth and Oswald L Kraus Innovator-in-Residence Scholarship for 2025 and creating Aotearoa's first entirely transgender anthology of art of writing has been one of the best experiences and greatest achievements of my life so far. As of this week the first edition has SOLD OUT! You can continue to purchase it from Unity Books as we print more ✨️ I am so, so grateful and proud of all of the artists, performers, writers, and creators who trusted me with their work, and eternally thankful to Sydney Shep at the Wai-te-ata Press and to my incredible designer Cal Ma for their work on the Divine Acts. Making a book is not easy so thank you to my friends and whānau for keeping me (relatively) sane throughout this process, you know who you are. Special thank you to @vixentemple.666 who has seen me flourish over the course of our friendship and launched this pukapuka 🖤 I said it best myself in the prologue, which ends with: 'I’ve always been drawn to queer interpretations of religious feeling. One of my favourite lines I’ve ever written is ‘God loved me so much he made me twice and gave me a choice.’ This was exaggerated for poetic effect, as I’ve also always been fairly critical of organised religion and God in general. I do believe my transition is a divine act - but if anything is divine, it is trans people’s strength and survival. This book is divided into three acts that take you through Heaven and Earth, and the Body and Blood. We explore the limits, tensions, complexities and possibilities of transness and identity. We experience divinity because we are divinity. Finally, we erupt into Light. ' Divine Acts celebrates trans lives and artistry in a world and current political climate that wants us unable to transition or dead. Please make sure you are enrolled to vote and that your details are correct ahead of this year's election so we can protect our trans whānau 💖🏳️‍⚧️ 📸 by @bondjei 💫

Thanks to the (26) Artists living here and in Lebanon who donated art to be auctioned with just less than 2 weeks notice! Along with the folk who came to the event and those who were able to place bids on the art, the bands who played and the business who donated to the raffles we managed to raise and send $2405 to the Emergency Relief network in Lebanon !!! We also split the raffle proceeds and were able to donate $100 each to Red Crescent Iran And Workers for Palestine to help with all they are doing . Artists and credits follow. I think we should do this again folk! A shout of of appreciation for our creative community here and across the globe ❤️ Just a week ago we called out for donations of art for the silent art auction emergency relief fundraiser (happening next Thursday 26th March). Within days so many artists had replied to our call, eager to contribute their art in solidarity against war pigs and with upmost respect for those helping and compassion for those affected . These are some of the artists so far whose art will be available in the auction. All proceeds from sales of art go to a grassroots group on the ground in Lebanon (@juliettejabra ), providing emergency relief to people forcibly displaced by ongoing bomb attacks. We are still appreciatively accepting donations of goods or vouchers for the raffles .All ticket sales from these will go towards Red Crescent Iran, and Workers For Palestine. Artists featured in reel in order of appearance Kieran Monaghan @skirted_records Jess Stab @hex_products Sasha Francis @_sashafrancis Holly Fenwick @decay_devotion Dan Harris @illojgali Ruby Nekk @contact.mike Nicole Gaston @nice.assets Tyler Clifton @t_clifton_ The Micro Mill @micro_mill_ Dan Ross @danthesteampunkman Quintin Ellery @buriedpigshead Cassie Gilmore-Freeth @roach_corpse Niall Hamilton @hamilton_niall Izzy Rodriguez @nenemalove103 King Komodo @kingkomodo Phao @fluxuxus Music in the reel by Frances Grass @francesgrasses who will be one of the musical acts performing at this event on Thursday along with @marchofthekorora @junipermay_ and @serpent.dream

In collaboration with @commode_commode we are stoked to feature work from @roach_corpse - installations will be throughout the day & performance is from 5.05-5.20pm ⛓️ ‘Cassie Gilmore-Freeth is a sculptor and performance artist based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara whose practice is driven by decay, lesbian sadomasochism, and symbiotic power relations. Through her work she aims to complicate the agency of the human and non-human and forge a perverted functionality that embraces failure, destruction, and ephemerality. She has collaborated with experimental noise improv duo Frogmeat and has performed/shown work at The Dowse, Enjoy contemporary Art Space, Meanwhile Gallery, and Play_Station Artist run space.’
