It is great to celebrate all the MILFS and DILFS in our lives on their special days (or anytime really) but what about the non-binary parents who love to f̶u̶c̶k̶ drink tea?! Each year the third Sunday in April marks Nonbinary Parent’s Day!! That was 19 April this year - so this post is a bit late but it was great to be able to add this design to my repertoire 🌈 hooray for all kinds of beautiful families! Thanks heaps to @threetreehouses for their design consultation 😘 And @charlea.taylor for giving me an occasion to make some fun new work! 🥰 Bonus DILF keep cup because these vessels really should be used out in the world!! @nonbinaryculture #nonbinary #enbypride #parentsofinstagram #stoneware #pinchpot

𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙝𝙖𝙨 𝙣𝙤 𝙙𝙚𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 (2026) I made this piece as a sort of therapy to help with the rage-inducing frustration of dealing with the US healthcare system. I know that NZ healthcare is far from perfect but all one has to do is look to the USA to see an example of what profit-driven, insurance-company led ‘care’ looks like. I put care in quotes because honestly I see no care in this model - just an extractive, exploitative system designed solely with the purpose of generating wealth for insurance company shareholders rather than care for the weakest and most vulnerable in our communities. I spend hours a day fighting with a broken system, just trying to ensure my mother has some dignity in her final years. It honestly feels like some kind of dystopian satire, the absurdity of it all is enough to make me want to laugh sometimes 😂 This is what happens when you privatise healthcare!! Corporations end up dictating what kind of care we can expect. I can see how this could drive a sane person mad - I feel like I am right there with Luigi (though sadly lacking his abdominal muscles). I didn’t intend for this to look like a womb but obviously some mother-daughter energy is infusing all of my work atm! Thanks so much to the clay and my pals for keeping me sane throughout this process. Where would I be without my mud and my mates? I love you all so much 🥰 This piece has gone to live with @adamwg 🥳 but if you want to commission a similarly themed work hmu!! Tell me your capitalist hellscape story that could be turned into a vase… there is something quite cathartic about putting all that frustration and rage into a pot and then giving it away. Hopefully it retains good vibes only in its new home! #ceramicsculpture #handbuilt #madeinchicago #stoneware

ℕ𝔼𝕎 𝕎𝕆ℝ𝕂 It feels so good to be making again 🥰 BUT NOW in a totally different way, with all new materials, and as minimal a ‘studio’ set up as possible. I am not really sure what I am doing or where this is going but I’m excited to expand my practice in new ways. Thanks heaps to @centeredclaycollective for firing this work. I have a few more pieces to share over the coming days! Infinite gratitude to @kasullivan25 for giving me the space and place to live and work atm 🙏 ilysm!! Fun fact: I just finished drinking tea out of one of these and it still had tea leaves in the bottom when I took these photos. Can you guess which one?

I’ve been meaning to post this for a while. It’s been nearly 7 weeks since the USA and Israel started a war against an Iran, a sovereign nation that did not attack either country. This is in addition to ongoing conflict in Gaza, Lebanon, Ukraine, Sudan, Venezuela, the list goes on. War benefits no one but the rich. When will the violence end? I’m so tired of seeing daily images of children being dismembered and people living in tents starving to death because some rich cunts want to get richer! It’s traumatising not only to see the violence inflicted on fellow humans but to feel so powerless to do anything. All we can do is keep showing up with empathy and love and trying to hold our elected officials accountable. End these wars nobody asked for already!! How did we let a bunch of rich fuckwits end up running the world? Stop simping for these cringe losers already. Thanks @tuatua_cafe and everyone who bought one of these for supporting me. Thanks to my amazing community in @arovalley 💔 I love you all and miss you heaps! #warnomore #eattherich

Finally got around to firing this amazing piece created during my residency @drivingcreekpottery along with @helenbakker65 and @clay_wayz 😂 It started as an attempt of mine at throwing a moon jar which of course collapsed as it was drying… rather than start over @helenbakker65 and @clay_wayz convinced me it was worth salvaging and we took our satirical idea for a @nelson.clay.week potter’s olympics event from there to the plot of a novel to a treatment for a short film and then finally to what it was always destined to be - a pot… 🎢 I hope that Barry would have appreciated it! I wonder if @hudsonwilliamsofficial and @connorstorrieofficial could attempt it? 🤔 I took forever deciding how to glaze it but honestly I’m obsessed with the results. Possibly my favourite thing I’ve ever been involved in making? A memory of really amazing people, place and time 🥰 Thanks so much to everyone at @drivingcreekpottery 🥰 was such a joy and privilege to be part of the whānau along with @louise_penberthy_jewellery @heatherclong @samdalwoodireland @luke_mccauley__ @philip_kavanagh @sinclairbijkerceramics @callum_trudgeon_pottery @jazzjackrabbit866 @dooleystreetstyling @carolin_hahn_ceramics @matildarrgh @riccardo_scott and everyone else I am surely forgetting 🥰

I have always wanted to make a full dinner set 🥰 thanks so much to @renee.coffey.94 for the custom 24 piece commission! What an epic final project to get to work on before I said mā te wā to Aotearoa 🙏 Almost can’t believe I made 60+ plates in the first 10 weeks of 2026 💪 #wheelthrown #stoneware #dinnerset

For years, @nice.assets has filled the Aro Valley Fair with colour, craft, and clay‑splattered joy. Her pottery has become part of the valley’s creative heartbeat, and while this is her last Fair for now, she’s not leaving Aotearoa forever — we’re crossing our fingers she’ll pop back up again. We feel incredibly lucky to have her with us one more time. Swing by her stall, share some aroha, and grab a piece of Aro‑made magic to take home. And the big one: we’ve got one of her stunning pieces in our silent auction — a rare chance to score something truly special from a maker we adore. Don’t miss it. 💛

After years of failed attempts today for the first time ever I actually went down to my local @garageprojectwellington and had them pour 1.25 L of locally brewed beer into one of my very own handmade riggers 🥳 Even knowing the exact shrinkage rate of my clay getting a neck and lip that would fit a swing top with several precise measurements across different parts of the piece is seriously a challenge. I may have had to get the dremel out and adjust a few bits but I got there in the end! It even survived a fairly bouncy bike ride back home in a pannier without the lid popping open. I honestly don’t know if I will ever be able to repeat this but I’m stoked to have been able to add another new functional ceramic object to my repertoire 😅 Thanks heaps to @staycreativemarket - so lovely to be involved with such a fantastic event 😘 What should I try next?! #wheelthrown #ceramicrigger #ceramicflagon #rigger #craftbeer

Wow. Just wow. Thank you so much to the whole team @everybodyeatsnz for creating such a special evening last night. To have an entire zero-waste meal designed around one of my plates - it’s beyond my wildest dreams 🥹 @harrifletcher_ is a beautiful kitchen angel!! Thanks @mangaweka for making this happen! I like to think of my studio practice as a form of activism - local materials, slow processes, reclaiming clay and glaze, connecting with community teaching these practices and keeping my work accessible. It’s a conscious decision not to feed capitalist, multi-national profit‑driven systems that exploit people and the planet. Everybody Eats’ pay‑what‑you‑can approach resonates with my values of accessibility, redistributing resources and removing barriers to dignity. Also OMFG was that meal YUM! I loved teaming up with @everybodyeatsnz to prove once again waste can be sexy and there is no room for exploitative profiteering in the future we want to build!! Thanks to everyone who bought a ticket and all the volunteers who helped make it happen! My only regret is I didn’t get better photos 😂 but I was too excited to dig in! 🍴 #zerowaste #foodrescue #foodwaste #reclaim #sustainableceramics

Did you know clay is infinitely recyclable until you fire it? I thought I would demonstrate how I reclaim my clay and then use it to make these zero-waste plates for our upcoming @everybodyeatsnz fundraiser 🥳♻️ I start by reclaiming my clay - I wet it in my reclaim bucket, then dry it, then I put it in my amazing mini pug mill that mixes it up for me and shoots out recycled clay snakes aka ‘pugs’. I weight out exactly 1kg of clay, wedge it, then throw it on the wheel. Once it has dried a bit I trim some of the excess clay off. These trimmings go right into my clay reclaim bucket, and the circle begins again! ♻️🥰 There’s still a few tickets left for Thursday - book your spot: https://www.everybodyeats.nz/events/clay-it-forward #zerowaste #circleoflife

Kia ora e hoa mā, just a heads up I will be leaving NZ and closing my studio for a while from mid-March 2026. That means: online shop will be closed! no casual kiln firing no commissions no teaching/lessons no gift vouchers no clay kits no short-term pottery wheel hire etc etc etc Thanks everyone for your support over the last 10 or so years of taking this clay thing fairly seriously! I am hoping to be back in the not-to-distant future but at this point there are too many unknowns for me to say when with any certainty. If you have a lesson voucher, a clay kit to fire, or want to do casual firing, please get in touch before 10 March. If you are interested in long-term, on-going discounted wheel hire please get in touch. Catch me before I leave at the @staycreativemarket market at @garageprojectwellington on 28 Feb, and Aro Fair 14 March at @arovalley 🥳

There are still a few tickets remaining for ‘Clay it forward’ this Thursday at @everybodyeatsnz Wellington 🥳 I thought I would demonstrate how I create my zero-waste reclaim glaze. Basically every time I do a batch of glazing I clean everything up in a bucket of water. When the bucket gets too stodgy to continue being useful for cleaning, it gets poured into a bigger bucket. And that is my reclaim glaze! ✨ Super efficient use of materials and because I generally use the same 6 or 7 glazes in my normal work I can pretty reliably count on the reclaim to be a semi-transparent olive green. Just like @everybodyeatsnz - turning waste into magic! ✨ #zerowaste
