Guitarist Madeleine Elkins has been making a name for herself on the Vancouver music scene for years now, mostly in the country, folk, and pop worlds. Jazz is her true love however, and Infidels Jazz is proud to announce the release of her very first album Brighton Train on CD, digital, and streaming formats on October 17.
Featuring Vancouver Jazz veterans Will Chernoff on electric bass & Kevin Romain on drums, Brighton Train shines a bright light on the contemporary state of the electric guitar, and its place in modern Jazz. Recorded by John Raham at Afterlife Studios in Vancouver, BC, and featuring gorgeous cover art and design by Raunie Mae, Brighton Park will be available on CD and Bandcamp digital download, and on many major streaming formats.
To celebrate the release of her first album, Madeleine and her trio will be performing a special release concert on October 18, at the Zameen Art House on Granville Island. Tickets are on sale now at the link in our bio, and moving quickly.

What a sweet surprise!!! I found out last night that I was featured in the Vancouver Sun article “10 Vancouver Music Acts to Watch in 2026” ~~ the first sentence of the article is “the Vancouver music scene is exploding right now” and I feel SO incredibly lucky to get to contribute even a little to what goes on in Vancouver. I love and admire all my friends making music here, and music certainly is not a competition, but if I had to make a list of 100 music acts to watch this year, I would definitely run out of space.
The last photo was taken at exactly this time last year (Jan 30th 2025) when I recorded the final note of Brighton Train with @johnraham ~~ I can’t believe it’s a full year later! You can listen to/buy the album on Bandcamp or if you want a physical CD you can bug me or @theinfidelsjazz 💿

For her first concert at the legendary China Cloud, Madeleine will be joined by her regular trio: Will Chernoff on Bass and Kevin Romain on drums.
This performance is part of the East Van Shuffle, a monthly Jazz series taking place at China Cloud in Chinatown. China Cloud is only accessible via a flight of stairs, and is not wheelchair accessible

Home from an incredibly inspiring and fun couple of out of town shows in Victoria and Galiano~ we survived the severe hazing ritual that BC Ferries puts on every Easter long weekend, and I’m so glad that we did! It was so cool playing this music for new communities and audiences.
I feel so grateful and lucky to contribute to the music scene in Vancouver, and I’m really reminded of this whenever I get to play shows for new communities. It’s amazing to see how universal it is to show up and support others in music spaces!!! It gives me lots of hope and is such a good reminder of the power we all have to show up for each other <3 power to the people! This is how we prioritize love and organize to continue to fight fascism, colonialism and systematic oppression caused by capitalism
