Brun turned 8 today & instead of dragging her off to stroud to print & twixt other pressing matters,i managed to print a screen which i processed over a year ago & never printed until today, of a pigeon or two ( i love ‚em ‚n’hate ‚em ), other obscure drawings including one drawing by @lorcanmusic but not shown here > yet < and a mugshot of Brun > in pink ( the only colour i could access for fabric …at the studio in easton and where you can see the birthday girl in half-slumber to the sweet and virtuosic playing of shashank subramanyan @shashank_flute who i happened to catch a week or so ago at st georges, bristol. Print Fair : Sheena Vallely : "My work has been described as entertaining and skillful." "It’s loosely based on portraiture of many kinds and during the process, I aim to satisfy myself and it usually follows that others will get this too. I use carborundum a lot in my work. It offers a freedom, breadth of colour, texture, embossing and like etching, it can be editioned. I also work in etching which usually involves drawing into copper or zinc to make studies among the grasses and weeds in fields and the hedgerows of frequently visited locations about Bristol where I live and about Stroud where I print.
