Hi Instagrammists - I am doing a *TALK* in BRUTON, Somerset, this Wednesday! For many years i knew this town only as home to the near mythical Sunny Hill School for Girls - i think some boys in our village had older sisters who went there. But in my tiny 8 yr old brain, it became entirely entwined with the comic strips about posh boarding schools i'd read in 'Bunty' or 'Girl' annuals, and imagine for these older sisters a mostly parent-free life of endless midnight feasts, fencing tournaments, and starting pop groups for the school talent contest... I don't think that the school exists anymore. Now it's better known for the big art gallery they've got there, rather brilliantly-vaguely misremembered by my Dad last week as 'Ergle-Bergle' ?! ANYWAY, sorry... I will be talking about how i made my new book, DEAR HISTORIAN, featuring these great women inspirations (plus - more!) & many many other pictures and things... Hi again... (Don't worry, all this will stop again quite soon!) Just to tell you i am doing a BOOK event at Oxford Literary Festival - THIS Sunday - 'in conversation' w/ the GREAT author, TRUE renaissance man and incredibly evolved & LOVELY human being, Patrick Gale @trevilley And - it is at 10am(?!?!) - a time, i'll admit, that i am not often awake at, esp. on this day of the week... But - i will be there, and awake, and trying to make sense and tell people about my new book and how i made it?!!? Pls enjoy these screenshotted graphics, sourced from the event page - where my face hauntingly tranmogrifies into the far more fetching Patrick's, and then the moment caught betwixt - v. much recalling a special effect from 70's-era Dr Who...?! (PLS do come along, as i fear it might be the *retail* INVERSE of last night at the cube - w/ just me...and possibly a Game of Thrones expert sales asst called Claire, who might be more into L.A.R.P-ing than historical re-enactment?!?!) THANKYOUSOMUCH ---- to EVERYONE who came out last night (in torrential rain no less!) for the 'launch event' of my new book effort! I can't quite believe SO MANY people from (v.) near & (pretty) far were interested ?! - But there they all were, in a packed out(!!) dreamy @cubemicroplex - ❤️C❤️U❤️B❤️E❤️ - and OF COURSE, extra THANKYOUs to genius booksellers @storysmithbooks & great pal / author @iambookhorse for getting/keeping the whole thing together...I have no i/g-able documentation at this moment, so please make do w/ this snap of many badges i made (out of 100% pure NERVEs!) for the event...and just try to imagine/picture/recall everyone i know (and even some people i don't) in a cosy cinema, and then me talking WAY too fast / much...and then @iambookhorse heroically getting me back on track, etc!? Please see second image for expression of my sincerest gratitude & ❤️ for all who attended - AND everyone here on the instagramparsons for all yr previous sweet msg's of support and enthusiasm! Thoroughly amazingly(!?!?) the 'Launch Event' for my new book - DEAR HISTORIAN - has pretty much sold out?! Crazy. How does this happen? Maybe by being quite old, and living here for exactly half yr life? But actually, it's all doubtless down to the superbrilliantkind help & work of best-bookshop-in-Bristol/the world @storysmithbooks , also dear novelist-neighbour-pal @iambookhorse AND venerable Bristol institution that is @cubemicroplex ... I think quite possibly everyone ive ever known is coming, so i'll probably see some of you there?! I am preparing a short 'media presentation' so, brace yrselves, and then will be 'in conversation' w/ the aforementioned & esteemed @iambookhorse ... yikes.

Hey - ! Loved ones, friends, acquaintances, people i randomly met once or multiple times on the street or public transportation, in parks, libraries, sticky-floored music venues, and even a few mystery people i don't know at all?!... My new book DEAR HISTORIAN comes out w/ @capegraphicnovels - on Thursday of next week, 12th March! I can't say I'm not BRICKING IT a fair bit, & have had more than than a few DOUBTs! But still, it took weirdly A-G-E-S to make and get ready, so i AM just relieved to see it finally exist and and be released in to the world!? Further info to follow in next posts?! ❤️ from J o ff

EASILY our longest ever song, it features an all star line-up of 'session pro's', why not buy the whole album on Bandcamp and find out just who they are?! The video was hastily 'animated' (are you noticing a pattern here?) and hilariously overly illustrative of the story told in the song...but what do you expect, it IS after all filmed in 'Literalvision'?! (and B R O W N.) Epic, stirring and stately are NOT words usually ever associated with any of our songs...But here is an exception to that rule!...as this LUSH version of our song about the TRUE heroine of the Supremes. It was made by modern day maestro of Bristol @samwisternoff and the impressive vocal talents of @bethchevron - CRANK IT! But the 'video', however, is far more UNDERwhelming than its technicolour audio...hastily cobbled together by filming an old vhs of Shindig off the telly. Still, theres a couple of fun 'happy accident' lip syncs...and some great shots of D. Ross (seewhatididthere?) looking suitably tyrannical?!

Having blown our entire advertising budget on the Pat and Maureen epic, we then turned to four young women picnickers in Greville Smyth Park, who were very good sports about conveying our all important message / brand, esp. considering they had definitely never heard of us or our songs. Still, they had...SALAD.

'Cos our 'Women, Ladies & Girls sing the Bucky Songbook' album of 2012 is nearly finally out of 'hard copies' (ie CDs, remember those?!) we are adding it to our 'fleet' (??) of recent BANDCAMP releases.
