Just in time for the holidays, I learned that 6 projects I supported in the district have received a total of 1.4 million in new Local Share Account funding!
From Clark Park to the Calvary Center to all of our public rec centers, we’ll be breaking ground across the district in the new year. 🎉🎉
My compassionate release legislation, H.B. 150, finally passed the House today.
I’ve worked on compassionate release laws — freeing some of the most desperate incarcerated Pennsylvanians — throughout my life as an organizer, a lawmaker and a child of an incarcerated parent.
Too many elderly Pennsylvanians are dying behind bars. Too many are trapped in prison hospital beds battling cancer, receiving limited care which costs our state more than 15 million every year.
While our geriatric prison population has ballooned by 300%, our existing medical release system is fundamentally broken and unable to address this crisis.
I’m proud we found support today from both sides of the aisle for improving medical release, including 12 Republicans who chose to follow their conscience and join us in support.
And most of all I’m grateful for our movement, of organizers and advocates, family members and clinicians, who have fought for compassionate release for decades and finally brought us to this step forward.
Our lone Democratic Senator John Fetterman has once again joined the Republican party in supporting disastrous forever wars in Iran, Lebanon and Gaza.
The cost of housing, utilities and groceries for my constituents continues to go through the roof.
As we fight for the future of this country, and an end to the genocide in Gaza, we must ask Senator Fetterman — which side are you on?
I had a great time riding from Clark Park to City Hall with Councilmember Gauthier and @bicyclecoalition@phillybiketrain for Ride to Work day!
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — I’ve been a cyclist in this city much longer than I’ve been a politician.
What a beautiful community of bikers to be a part of!
I had a pleasure meeting with a constituent of the 188th, Martin Hall, to learn more about Aphasia.
There are 2 million people in the United States living with Aphasia, a language disorder that often results from brain injury or stroke.
He encourages folks to remain patient, and urged our state to do more to recognize and accommodate people with aphasia.
Divest from War, Invest in PA! Join @jvp_philly and @cairphilly on May 15 at 10am at Sen. Fetterman’s Office, (200 Chestnut St). We will be coming back with our big red phone and this time we’ll be joined by progressive elected officials* representing Philadelphia to demand that Senator Fetterman divest from war in Iran, Lebanon, and Palestine and invest in our communities across Philadelphia and Pennsylvania. Since February 28, the US has spent over $25 billion on an immoral and illegal war on Iran and Lebanon while Pennsylvanians struggle to put food on the table, schools are closing, and people do not have the basic necessities to survive. Join us to demand: Fund Our Communities, Not Bombs!

SAVE PAUL ROBESON, SAVE OUR SCHOOLS!
Philly, this is it. We need you to SHOW UP to the Board of Education at 4 PM at 440 N Broad and SPEAK OUT against the School District's proposal to shutter Paul Robeson and other schools across Philly!
@phlschoolboard stand with our young people. Keep our schools open!
🚨🚨SAVE OUR SCHOOLS
The School Board is voting tonight on their facilities plan, which would close Robeson High and schools across the city.
We need to pack the house and say NO. 4pm, 440 n Broad st.
Philly, I need you to listen up right now about what the School District is trying to do to our schools and neighborhoods. This is a call to action.
They’re trying to close good schools where our kids are thriving.
They’re trying to close Paul Robeson High School—the last public high school in University City serving Black students—with a 96% graduation rate and sending our kids to Harvard.
They’re trying to close Lankenau—the only environmental science high school in the state—where our Black children are learning to be scientists.
We’ve seen this before—and it’s time for us to stand up and push back.
@philly_schools@phlschoolboard — don’t approve this plan.
And to our community: share this video and speak up today.
Save Robeson. Save Lankenau. It’s time to stand up for our kids.
