That’s another successful Civic Therapy Workshop in the books! I love meeting members of my community, and last night we participated in an excellent dialogue about structural violence and how actions from Washington directly impact our surrounding communities. Following the panel, audience members broke into small groups to further discuss the ins and outs of structural violence.

“I can hold two truths at the same time: That this is a very, very troubled nation, and this is a nation that has not yet fulfilled the promise of greatness,” spoke State Representative Chris Rabb at The Philadelphia Citizen’s Ultimate Job Interview. On March 31, The Citizen hosted leading candidates for the 3rd Congressional District Rabb, Dr. Ala Stanford and State Senator Sharif Street for a test on leadership and experience. Rabb spoke on his rich family history of Underground Railroad conductors, Declaration of Independence signers and anti-Jim Crow activists. He knows firsthand the troubled history of the United States, but also its potential for prosperity for all of its citizens. Learn more about the 3rd District Candidates and how to vote in this year’s election at the link in our bio.

4-18-26, NVS ushered in National Victims’ Rights Week with a “Leaning on Legislation” Breakfast! We laughed, engaged in serious conversations, and we spoke about the lives that were lost due to gun violence. We are hopeful that change will come as a result of the suggestions and comments that were raised. NVS would like to extend a Special Thank you to: Senator Art Haywood, Senator Sharif Street, Councilwoman Cindy Bass, Captain Dana Bardley (39th Police District), State Rep. Chris Rabb, State Rep. Andre Carroll, Andre Nelson Jr., Office of Victim Advocate in Philly, G. Lamar Steward, DA’s Office, Pennie Hockenberry, Office of Victim Advocate in Harrisburg , State Rep. Darisha Parker and Sheriff Rochelle Bilal.
