feeling the weight of having to make a lot of decisions in a little amount of time. I’ve spent all my teens + early twenties on the train to-and-from the city searching for a square to stand on. I turned 19 on the PATH making my way back to Jersey with a dead battery. as Midnight struck + mountains of “happy birthdays” and “I love you’s” poured in (though I wouldn’t see it for a while) I was feeling stuck. I was home but always out the house, on the move, nomadic, never idle . this would continue for four more years. the birthday texts got shorter, the gaps in convo got wider but that being-stuck remained. … until one day coming back from a show I played, I was outwardly bitching (prolly to Nook & Curt) about how much I miss hitting a show in my backyard and engaging with folk that thought like me to a certain degree. no underground politics or obsession with aesthetic, just raw energy and community. I look back on these excerpts of two weeks ago, a blip in time, and am moved to tears. How that one evening was a manifestation of everything I could’ve ever wanted, from friends (old and new) to family to good people that I know I could call peers and all in between. It’s shit like this that reminds me what really matters. though I always move at the end of the day, this made me not mind standing still. standing still but not stuck :) 2 - @xandycamx 13, 15 - @nookifyoubuck 19 - @krus.us
