ZOOT at LONDON FASHION WEEK
VIN + OMI AW26
With Fashion Editor Rebekah Roy
There were over 500 people at the vinandomi show, yet it somehow felt both like a music concert (there was a live DJ outside the Art Hotel) and something quietly intimate at the same time. Strangers were talking to one another, properly talking â that rare, deep-rooted connection you donât often feel in fashion spaces. It was high fashion, sustainability, and kindness all in the same room.
Friends of the designers â including restaurateur Dame Prue Leith, journalist Dylan Jones, and designer and stylist Jo Wood â walked the catwalk. There were cheers, laughter, and birthday wishes for Dame Prue, celebrating her 85th year around the sun. It felt joyful, unforced, human.
The designersâ ongoing collaboration with King Charlesâ Sandringham Estate continues to push textile innovation forward â garments crafted from waste clippings of holly, nettles, butterbur, wood shavings, recycled aluminium, and hotel linens. This season included the worldâs first textile made from holly, alongside fabrics created from discarded cans and nettles. Experimental, yes â but also quietly radical.
The show itself felt like a menagerie: printed birds and flowers, green and blue sequins, moments of whimsy alongside rock ânâ roll energy. Then came simple white garments, almost like hospital gowns â stark, emotional, and impossible to ignore.
The collection felt deeply personal. Omi shared that heâd recently had a heart attack, which led to a partnership with the British Heart Foundation. Years ago, I remember asking Omi where you could buy one of their pieces. He told me they werenât for sale â they were about exploring textiles. This collaboration marked the first time their work was available to purchase, closing the gap between fashion, community, and purpose.
It was rebelliously beautiful â and proof that fashion can still mean something.
