The countdown is now on for the opening day of the RDS Dublin Horse Show on 5 August, followed by the return of Leinster Rugby in September. Welcome back to the RDS Digital Archive Blog Series! One of the RDS Library & Archives' more recent acquisitions is the Lady Averil Swinfen Collection, kindly donated by Julian Humphreys, which is the subject of today's blog. Lydia Flanagan, who is currently undertaking the MA in Archives and Records Management at UCD, worked with the collection in March. Her blog explores Lady Swinfen's importance in the founding of the Irish Donkey Society and the culture surrounding donkeys in Ireland in the 1960s and '70s. The cataloguing of the Lady Averil Swinfen Collection is ongoing, but other RDS collections are available to view on the RDS Digital Archive. What a day at ESB Science Blast Belfast! 🔬✨ We were delighted to welcome students, educators, and curious minds from across Ireland to ICC Belfast, our venue partner, for a day full of creativity, exploration, and STEM fun. A big thank you to @theesbgroup for their continued support in bringing this incredible event to life, including their fantastic ESB stands which helped bring STEM learning to the forefront. From innovative projects to hands-on exhibits, the energy across the hall was incredible. Schools showcased their ideas while engaging with leading organisations, including @nispaceorg & David Fearon, @marblearchcaves , @kainossoftware , @armaghspace , @w5belfast , @northernirelandwater , @matrix_ni and @nifrsofficial . This category supports artists whose degree shows didn’t follow the traditional timeline or who studied abroad ensuring outstanding work still has the opportunity to be seen, supported, and celebrated.
