𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗦𝗧𝗣 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 The UK Space Agency recently opened applications for local businesses to apply for a share of up to £14.7 million in funding through the European Space Agency’s General Support Technology Programme. This call gives UK businesses, including NI SPACE members, an opportunity to develop new space technologies from early stage research through to flight ready demonstration. Offering a strong route to engage nationally through an established programme, we’re delighted to share this opportunity with our community and would encourage our members to review the guidance and consider how this funding could support future projects. 🔗For details on available funding and how to apply, visit the guidance page here: /government/publications/general-support-technology-programme-gstp 🔗Read the Agency press release here: /government/news/14-million-funding-boost-to-power-uk-space-technology-innovation

𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗞 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 The announcement from Space Minister Liz Lloyd that the UK space sector is to receive £𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 for national space programmes is greatly welcomed by NI SPACE. Outlining the funding package at the recent Space-Comm Expo in London, Minister Lloyd said that the public funding will be focussed on four areas that drive economic growth and national security outcomes: 1. 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 2. 𝗜𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 (such as refuelling and maintaining satellites and producing products like medicines and semiconductors in space) 3. 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 (such as tracking spacecraft, debris and space weather) 4. 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲 Of this, £37 million will be distributed to develop space clusters, building on local strengths and ensuring the benefits of space reach every corner of the UK. As a space cluster, NI SPACE will be in receipt of funding to enable us to further strengthen our relationships with local government, industry, academia and the wider UK space cluster ecosystem to provide new opportunities and ultimately promote and position Northern Ireland at the forefront of the UK's space sector. 🔗Link in bio for more information

𝗔𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗼-𝗜𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 NI SPACE recently sponsored and attended the Anglo-Irish Friendship St Patrick’s Reception held in the Long Gallery at Stormont. Hosted by Steve Aiken OBE MLA, Deputy Speaker NI Assembly, the event was attended by over 120 key figures in North/South relations from a variety of political and business groups, focusing on strengthening UK-Ireland friendships and relations. We met with representatives from Seanad Éireann and Dáil Éireann including Senator Mark Daly, Senator Aubrey McCarthy, Senator Victor Boyhan and Frank Feighan TD, together with Mark Lindsay MBE, Frank Shivers, and Gavin Robinson MP, Leader of the DUP. During the event guests had the opportunity to hear from Susan Heaney, Public Sector Manager at NI Space Office, who spoke about the unique work we are doing with Northern Ireland’s public sector to identify where the use of satellite and space-based data could improve the efficiencies and effectiveness of service delivery - ultimately, to deliver increased value for money to the public purse. 🔗Click on the link in bio to read about the event and the work to date.
