This year’s CanSat programme engaged over 300 schools across the UK, showcasing the growing excitement around hands-on space and STEM education. From engineering and data analysis to teamwork and communication, students demonstrated the future of UK space innovation. After months of designing, building, testing, and problem-solving, 8 finalist teams earned their place at the national finals, where around 50 students presented their missions and engineering decisions to a panel of 5 external expert judges. Congratulations to all of this year’s finalist teams for their innovation, teamwork, and determination throughout the competition journey. Each team brought something unique, making the finals a true celebration of student led STEM innovation. A special congratulations to Blueshift team from Queen Mary’s Grammar School, awarded Overall Winner for its excellence across all aspects of the mission. To every student, teacher, educator, mentor, judge, and supporter who contributed to this year’s journey, thank you for making the 2026 CanSat Finals such a success. A big moment for space exploration, Artemis II is making its journey back to Earth. It’s moments like this that spark curiosity… so why not bring that excitement into your classroom? Try our Eggnaut challenge, where students design and test how to land an “astronaut” safely back on Earth. Perfect for this week… and even better if you’ve got leftover Easter eggs to use instead.
