This week I was sitting at dinner with a very unique and inspiring group of people from completely different industries, backgrounds, countries, and stages of life.
At some point, the question around the table became:
“What was the pivotal moment in your life?”
Everyone seemed to have one clear answer.
One major event. One decision. One breakthrough moment that changed everything.
And strangely… I struggled to answer.
Not because I never had one, but because I realised my life has been built through many pivotal moments, each shaping a different version of me.
A pivotal moment was leaving Lithuania and moving abroad at a young age, without fully understanding yet how much that decision would change my perspective on life and people.
A pivotal moment was living in London and learning how much environment matters, how the rooms you enter and the people you surround yourself with slowly shape your ambition, mindset, and identity.
A pivotal moment was attending a workshop in Bali about the art of being human and understanding how dangerous comparison can become, especially in a world where everyone constantly presents the highlight reel of their lives. I think true growth started when I stopped measuring my path against other people’s timing and started focusing on becoming genuinely proud of my own journey.
Another was joining Driven and building a life in Dubai.
Dubai pushed me into a faster, more international, and demanding world. It forced me to adapt quickly, think globally, become sharper in business, and more resilient mentally.
The list could go on and on, and the interesting part is that none of those moments felt monumental while they were happening. Most of them felt uncomfortable, uncertain, lonely, or difficult at the time.
I think we often imagine pivotal moments as fireworks.
But in reality, many of them are quiet decisions that slowly change the direction of your life.
Maybe life is not defined by one pivotal moment after all.
Maybe it’s defined by the courage to continue evolving through many of them.
