“Habari Gani?” - A Kwanzaa Short Film♥️ It’s very fulfilling seeing a concept I’ve pocketed for four years finally come into fruition. I wanted to make a short film that embodies the curiosity of the African-American youth, that hasn’t always felt tied close to their culture; specifically the new age curiosity around Kwanzaa (lost/new tradition). my first post on my editing account could not be any better 🥹 when @victoria.wilcoxx came to me with this project, I already knew this was gonna be something special. The editing process for this was pretty quick, (literally during a free weekend I had whilst working on 2 other projects, stay tuned for those 👀), yet it was still so much fun! This project allowed me to work with all the things I love when editing: music, montages, and a bit of experimental editing. I would consider this edit to be my (current) magnum opus. I knew we created something good when my mom (who is my biggest supporter, but also my biggest critic) had nothing but praises to say about it when I showed her the rough cut. I feel like this project shows the growth my editing has gone through in the past year. A year ago, I’m not sure if I would have had the confidence to take on a project like this.
