CONGRATULATIONS to everybody that has run for charity in a marathon this year. Marathons and half marathons are immense undertakings, requiring both great physical and mental fortitude.
Rainforest Concern is so grateful to those that chose to run for us, the Rainforest Runners. Thank you.
Collectively our Rainforest Runners have raised nearly £8000. This is a stupendous effort.
If you have any photos of Rainforest Concern runners, or want to run a marathon for rainforest conservation in the future, please contact us at
[email protected]
Runners are always welcome to come into our Bath office so that we can discuss the work you have run for.
We’ve been supporting @rainforestconcern across three of their reserves — Neblina, Los Cedros and Nasampulli — helping to monitor some of the incredible wildlife in these iconic habitats.
Pudú, puma, wild boar, Austral pygmy-owl, Andean bear, South American grey fox, ocelot — just some of the species our trail cameras are lucky enough to encounter 🌿 #wildlife #conservation #trailcam #nature
Today is World Tapir Day. Herbivores, tapirs are 'gardeners of the forest', helping to maintain habitat structure and floral diversity through foraging and seed dispersion.
Pictured is a lowland tapir, Tapirus terrestris. The species is physically impressive - large individuals over 2m long and up to 320kg have been reported. Tapir mothers are caring, nursing their calves for 10-15 minutes up to ten times per day. After weaning (at approximately six months), the mother will continue caring for and protecting her calf until it is about a year and a half old.
Tapirs are threatened by poaching and habitat destruction. A Vulnerable (IUCN) species, lowland tapir are native to the Central-Amazonian rainforests where Rainforest Concern partners with @institutojurua on environmental conservation projects. Another tapir species, Baird's tapir (Tapirus bairdii, Endangered) is native to the rainforest of the Bosque de las Madres Biological Corridor, the site of a Rainforest Concern habitat protection project.

On Earth Day, this image reflects a small but meaningful gesture: planting native trees in a degraded forest. Each tree planted is a step towards restoring natural balance, protecting biodiversity, and personal commitment to a more sustainable future.
🌎

22nd April 2026 - Earth Day
Since 1970, the Earth Day event has given individuals and organisations the opportunity to demonstrate their support for environmental protection.
Rainforest Concern protects threatened natural habitats and wildlife, so Earth Day is particularly important to us.
Since 1993 we have helped to protect over 2.2 million hectares of threatened natural habitat, including rainforest in Brazil, Costa Rica and Colombia, cloud forests in the Ecuadorian Andes, and Endangered araucaria forest in Chile. These video clips are from Rainforest Concern's Nasampulli Reserve in Chile.
Happily we often welcome new Rainforest Concern members on Earth Day, individuals particularly motivated to support meaningful conservation on a regular basis.
We are so grateful to our members for your support of our vital conservation work.
We are always trying to grow the conservation community: ➡️ become a Rainforest Concern member today (link in bio).
We also thank our corporate partners, with whose support we have been able to massively increase our conservation impact:

Peccaries inhabit several of our reserves. The camera trap footage shown here is of a herd of collared peccaries (the video should make their naming clear!) at Rainforest Concern's partner project, the Los Cedros Reserve (@est.loscedros ), Ecuador. Peccaries are ecosystem engineers, in their herds distributing vast quantities of seeds and nutrients essential for plant growth such as phosphorus.
Monitoring peccaries is a challenge. They can travel in vast herds (white lipped peccaries can have herd sizes of multiple hundreds).
Challenge: How many peccaries can you count in this video? Comment below.
As ever we are grateful to @naturespy for their support, including supplying top-quality camera traps for Rainforest Concern reserves.

At Easter, themes of rebirth, fertility and new life are often symbolised by eggs.
These themes are core to conservation too - for conservation to be meaningful and long term, for threatened species to recover and maintain stable populations, we must protect the generations to come.
All of the (egg-laying) species pictured benefit from Rainforest Concern projects or partner projects.
This Easter, consider becoming a member. You could also give the gift of conserving precious forest, full of new life, to somebody you love by sponsoring an acre of rainforest on their behalf.

In Ecuador, the next generation of biologists are practically learning to monitor wildlife.
Wildlife monitoring is an essential part of the conservation process - detected increases in biodiversity and rare species numbers are evidence that conservation projects are working.
These students are learning how to use camera traps, supplied through Rainforest Concern's partnership with NatureSpy. Camera traps have proven time and again to be the best multipurpose passive monitoring tool for both terrestrial and arboreal animals.
These magnificent puma images were taken with camera traps set up by students in the Los Cedros Reserve.
Rainforest Concern is grateful for NatureSpy's support of our conservation work. With the camera traps that NatureSpy have generously donated we have been able to monitor the precious wildlife protected in our reserves, as shown on our Instagram page! This wildlife monitoring education effort is also possible thanks to NatureSpy's support.
Today is International Day of Forests 2026, a key date in the conservation calendar. Conserving rainforests and wildlife will be as essential for the next generation as it is for us.

Today is World Rewilding Day.
A long term partner of Rainforest Concern, the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary is a great habitat regeneration ('rewilding') success story.
For over forty years women have come from rural villages in Kerala (India) to the sanctuary, learning how to grow and replant over 2,000 species of endemic plants with the sanctuary's experts.
Through the work of the Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary's skilled and dedicated team of ‘ecosystem gardeners’, barren brown hills (former tea plantations) are transformed into a green and biodiverse paradise, where tigers and elephants have now been seen for the first time in decades.
The Gurukula Botanical Sanctuary is located in the Western Ghats, which has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage site due to the mountain range's ‘immense global importance for the conservation of biological diversity’.
Please visit the Rainforest Concern website, link in bio, to learn more and support critical conservation work.

Rainforest Concern's Neblina Reserve is home to many rare and threatened species, including Isidor's eagles. Isidor's eagle is Endangered (per the IUCN); possibly as few as 250 mature adults remain across their native range. Every year Isidor's eagles raise chicks at Neblina Reserve in Ecuador's cloud forests.
Across South America the primary driver of the Isidor's eagle's decline is habitat destruction. Rainforest Concern is fighting this - we have now raised £67,800 towards purchasing and protecting vital forested land to expand the Neblina Reserve, guaranteeing more habitat for this precious species. This funding has been donated by both kind individuals and corporate sponsors, such as our brilliant partners at @thinkgalapagos
We thank all who have donated so far.
We also thank @joshuaallanwild for the Isidor's eagle footage used in this reel. Josh visited the Neblina Reserve in 2025, triumphing over exceptionally difficult conditions to capture this incredible footage.
To complete the next Neblina Reserve expansion, we need to raise a further £20,000.
You can help us.

🍌We are excited to share the release of Klaus, a capuchin monkey who has been under our care since March 2023.
On February 17th, Klaus was transferred to our Primary Release Station, La Ceiba, where he will find what we hope is his forever home in the wild. To reach this milestone, Klaus followed a long rehabilitation journey, from the nursery to our Monkey Forest enclosure.
🌳 This enclosure is a vital step in the rehabilitation process for our primates. It allows them to be closer to nature while reducing human contact, helping them adapt to new smells, sounds, and surroundings essential for survival in the wild.
✨Thanks to a generous donation from @rainforestconcern , we were able to build this enclosure three years ago, a transitional space where monkeys stay as they prepare for their final step toward life in the wild.
This World Wildlife Day, and every day, Rainforest Concern protects super-biodiverse natural habitat from a multitude of threats - illegal logging, mining, poaching etc.
This beautiful puma was recorded at one of our conservation projects in Ecuador, with a state-of-the-art camera trap kindly sent by our brilliant supporters @naturespy
You can help us too.
Support rainforest conservation where it matters most in Ecuador, Chile, Costa Rica - see the complete list on our website.
