Bill-clacking. Sky-pointing. Moving their necks from left to right. Loud honking....Waved Albatrosses mate for life and can live for up to 55 years — and every May, they return to Española Island to perform one of the most extraordinary courtship rituals in the natural world. But the albatross is only part of the story. On Genovesa, male frigate birds are inflating vivid scarlet throat pouches. On North Seymour, blue-footed boobies are beginning their endearingly precise high-stepping dances. In the highlands, giant tortoises move slowly toward nesting grounds. May sits at a genuinely rare sweet spot — warm enough to snorkel without a full wetsuit, not yet peak season, and alive with wildlife behaviour you simply won't see at any other time of year. If you've been wondering when to go, the answer might be sooner than you think. Today we're raising a glass — or maybe a cold beer on a yacht deck — to the one and only legend that is Sir David Attenborough on his 100th birthday. 🎂🎉 For so many decades, this extraordinary man has brought the natural world into our homes, indeed he introduced many of us to the wonder of it in his groundbreaking series Life on Earth back in the late 1970s. His voice is the sound of wonder itself. Our founder Rachel Dex has her own special memory of Sir David. She was lucky enough to meet him in the Galapagos Islands while he was on location filming 'Life of Birds' — and ended up sharing a beer with him and his crew aboard their yacht as the sun went down over the archipelago. She says he was exactly as warm, curious, and genuinely lovely as you'd expect from a man who has spent his life in love with the natural world. We've published her story on the blog — it's a beautiful little piece of Galapagos history, and a wonderful reminder of why this place draws the very best of us. 👉 Read it here: /happy-birthday-sir-david-attenborough/ Happy 100th, Sir David. The world is better for every year you've been in it. 🌿

May is one of our favourite months in the Galapagos 🌊 (but don't tell everyone!) The climate is at its most pleasant, the wildlife spectacle is in full swing, and the islands feel at their most alive. Blue skies. Warm seas. And on Española Island, the Waved Albatross is back — performing one of nature's most extraordinary courtship displays. These birds mate for life, live for up to 55 years, and their dancing? Absolutely unmissable 😉 Add in Blue-footed Booby courtship, Great Frigatebirds puffing out their crimson throat pouches, snorkelling with sea lions and green turtles, and giant tortoises on the move in the highlands — and you've got one of the most spectacular months in the islands. We've just updated our full May guide 🔗 Link in bio. #Galapagos #GalapagosIslands #MayTravel #WavedAlbatross #WildlifeTravel #EcuadorTravel #NatureLovers #WildlifePhotography #ThinkGalapagos

The Monserrat , one of our first class yacht options, has had a full makeover — and she's looking better than ever. 🛥️✨ ! Built in 2005 and fully refurbished in 2025, the Monserrat sleeps up to 16 guests across 10 cabins on two decks, and comes with plenty of comfortable outdoor space to soak in those iconic views. What really sets the Monserrat apart is her guide-to-passenger ratio — one expert guide for every 8 guests, which is among the best you'll find in the islands. That means more personalised attention, richer wildlife encounters, and a trip that feels truly tailored to you. Add kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding to the mix, a warm and friendly crew, and a trusted local operation — and you've got a great package. Our Founder Rachel says.. "After over two decades of organising Galapagos trips, I know how much the little things matter — the quality of your guides, the feel of the yacht, the crew. The Monserrat has always delivered on all of that, and the 2025 refurbishment has made her even better! She's a great option for guests. " Thinking about the Galapagos? The Monserrat might just be your perfect match. Get in touch to find out more. 👇 #Galapagos #GalapagosYacht #MonserratYacht #GalapagosTrip #EcuadorTravel #WildlifeTravel #IslandLife #ThinkGalapagos

Earth Day | 22 April 2026 Our Power, Our Planet. 🌎💚 In 1970, 20 million people took to the streets and changed history. Today, 1 billion people across 193 countries carry that same message forward. This year matters more than ever as in 2025, over 400 environmental regulations were rolled back worldwide. Clean air, safe water, decades of progress: at risk. On the bright side the power to protect what we love is still ours. This year, the call goes beyond demanding action from governments, it's an invitation to reflect: every industry, every role, every decision adds or subtracts. Energy, transport, tourism, consumption: it all counts. For us at Think Galapagos, with over 20 years of designing journeys, we are aware that every destination, every partner, and every experience we create has the potential to give something back, to nature, to local communities, and to the ecosystems that have inspired us for so long. Showcasing a beautiful place comes with responsibility: ensuring that it continues to exist is an essential part of what we do. -Plant something today. -Choose sustainable transport. -Support businesses that care. 🌊 Ecuador is famous for its wildlife. Its food is pretty good too and a true reflection of the diversity of the country. Picture this: a steaming bowl of locro de papas in a highland market. Fresh ceviche on a sun-drenched dock. Lobster encocado — bathed in coconut milk and spice — eaten with the Pacific stretching out in front of you. Ecuador is a country of four worlds, and every single one of them has something extraordinary on the plate. From the ancestral cooking traditions of the Andes to the marine abundance of the islands, the cuisine here is as layered and remarkable as the landscapes themselves. Our newest blog is your complete culinary guide — written by Eli, a Galapagos native and passionate foodie who knows this country's food inside out. Whether you're planning a trip or just dreaming of one, this is a beautiful read. 😋 👉 /a-culinary-journey-through-ecuador-and-the-galapagos/
