The National Council for Multidisciplinary Art has awarded the State Prize for Multidisciplinary Art 2023 to the Myymälä2 cooperative. Myymälä2 was awarded in recognition of its original and truly multidisciplinary community, which operates proudly at the grassroots level. Myymälä2 is an open and safe meeting place for visual and performance arts, experimental music, design and street culture. It is truly diverse - both the cooperative’s actors and artists represent different artforms and cultural backgrounds. Its operations are active, renewing, long-term and uncompromising. We would like to thank all the artists and art actors who worked with us. @myymala2 @taikegram

Repost from @josefkartist "Prayer for Performance Art" a performance by Josef Ka, which took place on October 29, 2023, as part of the annual international program "Quantum Critic," curated by the Myymälä2 Gallery in Helsinki. This performance marked the beginning of a series dedicated to exploring the state of contemporary performance art. Performance art, from its inception, has been one of the most open-minded and bold mediums, yet often remains underpaid and undervalued. Through the creation of a unique ritual PRAYER FOR PERFORMANCE ART, the performance involved the artist's body representing the essence of performance art itself, resulting in a site-specific interactive experience. The Journey Through Quantum Critic The Quantum Critic experience begins in a familiar gallery setting, complete with white walls and a window offering a glimpse of a virtual landscape. However, the journey takes a captivating twist, leading viewers across precarious bridges, through vertigo-inducing spaces, and into a digital forest, before plunging them into an altogether different realm. Myymälä2 and AAcoop have embarked on a pioneering exploration of the possibilities of virtual art spaces with Quantum Critic 2023. In this bold endeavor, the lines between the physical and the digital blur, and the very essence of what constitutes an art gallery is transformed, challenging the art world to rethink the way it presents and experiences contemporary art. Simultaneously with the virtual exhibition on Spatial.io you may visit the physical exhibition Quantum Critic on Katariinankatu 4, Helsinki. 🗺️Variations on a Map by Benji Boyadgian (PS / FI) Quantum critic 3 exhibition 2023 Variations on a Map is an anthology of maps depicting Palestine, Israel, the West Bank, Biblical Kingdoms, and more, each representing the same place in various ways: historical, political, speculative, and symbolic. Maps hoid power as toois of ideoiogy and identity projection. Counter-maps emerge from marginalized voices, revealing what hegemonic maps omit. Maps project collective imagination onto real landscapes, as seen in colonial history. Redefining Space and Scale in the Virtual Realm In the Quantum Critic 2023 metaverse, traditional notions of space and scale are challenged. What does a "white cube" mean when there are no physical limits, only digital polygons? Is it necessary to consider human scale, or is the size of the screen the new unit of measurement? With a bold intention to push the boundaries of the medium, the architecture of Quantum Critic 2023 boldly interacts with the artworks it hosts. Simultaneously with the virtual exhibition on Spatial.io you may visit the physical exhibition Quantum Critic on Katariinankatu 4, Helsinki.
