On Easter Sunday we had a Pysanka egg decorating workshop at @koroinen in Turku! Thank you everyone who came 💖 We were 15 people and one (at times two) lovely dog(s). Both wooden and chicken eggs were used, people mixed traditional designs or made their own from scratch, and the results are just beautiful! We could have continued even longer, it's very tempting to immediately start another egg after finishing the first one, and some were saying they would want to do Pysankas every year. The weather outside was snowy, but Koroinen cafe served us the most delicious warm Ukrainian borscht. Thank you once more!

It's already summer equinox! I keep postponing writing a blog about the process of creating comics, which I want to conduct systematically while working on it. Somehow, I take online publications too seriously and can’t find the time for them while other things are fully taking over. But! I still work on the script writing, though, I postponed the drawing of the comic book Granny's Story. “Those were terrible days in my family's life!” - my grandmother's voice sounds in my head from the recording of our conversation, where she mentions the Holodomor. I have wanted to share this phrase more than once with people who saw ready pages of the comic and read my posts. Or “She drank 100 grams of alcohol not to die!” - my grandmother says eloquently about her sister Katya, who was sent to the war between the Soviet Union and Finland in 1939. Meanwhile voices sound, I am thinking: "Well, nothing is clear! We need to give some background and explain everything." And start to write long texts... Does this feeling familiar to anyone? That you have no right to miss a point when you say something; you have no right to write something wrong, not to mention someone, not to thank someone. Like with a public speech: it always seems to me that I'm saying wrong things and I am doing it wrong way. So, while writing a text I have a chance to think twice or three times, thus to avoid it. I have no right not to take this chance. Isn’t it interesting to know what is behind the phrase: "That's how our childhood was"? - Grandma Vira, my grandmother's sister, says, while describing the Holodomor in her letter to "Nauka i Zhizn" (science and life) magazine. “But she always felt protection…” – was said about my grandmother’s mother, who spent her childhood in a boarding school. “What does that mean? Protection from whom?” – I was indignant when we talk about it with Aunt Olya. “Well, probably from her father. Well, Tonya, no one knows!” - Aunt Olya answers me Isn’t it interesting to know what facts are behind all these mysterious phrases? For me it’s interesting. If it is like that for anyone else, then I, we need to continue... Photo - the third completed page of the comic.

We will publish all the 6 speeches from 8.3. event. 4/6 Ton Melnyk @svitlechko , activist and artist from Ukraine: Hi dear participants of today’s demonstration. I am Ton - artist and queer feminist activist from Ukraine. I have experience of more than 15 years of leftist, anarchist, queer and gender rights activism not only in Kyiv, but in other places in Ukraine. I am representative of numerous vulnerabilities as well, and was doing my activism from the position of margins. In Kyiv since I remember myself activist, with my comrades we have been having feminist demonstration on the 8th or March, labor rights demonstrations on the 1rst of May and on some other symbolic demonstrations on other commemorative dates. And I really liked them - they were always so energetic and they were about our not mainstream traditions, which were always contradicting with the politics and mainstream discourse. When I was getting more and more experience I started to notice how feminist and anarchist agenda important not only on specific days, but how it’s needed in everyday life. In our personal and friendship relationship, in our work life and hobby communities. I realized how it’s important to notice other people, their feelings and needs in friendships and love. I started to feel how it’s needed to create alternative to capitalist working relationship, for example cooperatives. How it’s important to fight the male dominated atmosphere in the gyms, in case sports is your hobby. Feminist activism became my everyday life. In time I realized how it’s important to check my privileges and see vulnerabilities of other people, notice and pay attention on them. And in time I started to notice how the tradition of protesting changes. I noticed how my effort to plant seeds of alternative relationships brake against the need to fight back aggressor who wants erase the society and culture I belong to, how it wants to destroy the diversity of identities. And actually I know that this aggressor wants to erase me! Continue in comments:
