You’re invited! “RePurposed is both a reflection on what’s been built so far and an open invitation to imagine what comes next in a market that connects people, place and planet through design, enterprise and shared purpose.” Melbourne Design Week is Australia’s largest and leading annual design festival and takes place from 14–24 May 2026. This year, we’re bringing you inside the @streatmelbourne led Purpose Precinct for an extraordinary triple-barrel experience of hands on activities, education and ideation. To tie into Design Week’s theme “Legacy” we are reimagining one of Melbourne’s most iconic places - @vicmarket - as a community hub for a circular and purposeful future. In an hour and a half experience, you’ll be able to: * enjoy a guided-tour of the Purpose Precinct, and learn about its history, impact, and vision of the future with General Manager, Llawela Forrest. * make and take home a jar of quick pickles, led by our food waste expert Fi Smith * see plastics as a resource and crank out your own pen or carabiner * contribute your thoughts and circular product ideas with our Eco-Innovator, Fiona Meighan * explore a selection of past innovation work developed with universities, designers and industry experts, highlighting how circular ideas are explored, prototyped and brought to life within the market context Head to the link in our bio to book a ticket and secure your spot to RePurposed now! There are three time slots to choose from: 🗓 Saturday, 23 May, 2026 🕚 11am-12:30 pm 🕛 12:30-2pm 🕑 2-3:30pm 🎟️ Tickets required and available for purchase through the link in bio! 📍Moving Feast Kitchen, The Purpose Precinct, F Sheds Queen Victoria Market, off of Peel St, Melbourne VIC, Australia. Earth Day asks us to care for the land we walk on, tread lightly and preserve the only planet we have. In seeking to care for the lands, water and sky, we look to the First Nations people of the lands of which we occupy for their specialised knowledge on how best to do so. Last weekend, some STREAT team members joined the first leg of the 2026 National Walk for Truth accompanying Kerrupmara Gunditjmara man and former Yoorrook Justice Commission member, Travis Lovett as he started the 500km+ journey from Melbourne to Parliament House in Canberra. An act demanding a national truth-telling process regarding First Nations history and the impacts of colonisation. It was heartening to see so many people showed up to walk the from Parliament House in Victoria to Dights Falls. Showing up as an ally is a critical step towards healing. This year’s Earth Day theme “Our Power, Our Planet” reminds us that coming together, working together, and seeing the same future based on truth is deeply powerful. And connecting to Country is one way we can do this. Truth-telling is another. We only have this one planet, and seeing so many people show up to support First Nations truth-telling out in community was deeply moving. We have a long way to go in protecting the lands we walk on. But on days like this, progress feels a little closer.

If you look close enough, you might be able to see what these bowls and planters were once made out of... can you guess? Well we can tell you that @lilgasbowl make their shiny and vibrant products out of old gas bottles. How cool! Ivy is quite shocked by that as you can see 🤩 We now have these in stock at our shop. Pop in and see the innovative designs for yourself! 📍Purpose Precinct, F18, Queen Victoria Market @vicmarket off Peel St.

Last weekend we held a sold out quick pickles class. Waste-saving extraordinaire Fi Smith @fimightbe dazzled the class with her pickling, giving the class an education that they can take home with them that is tasty, reduces food waste, and saves money! ✨ After learning about our work at the Purpose Precinct, participants donned their aprons, selected and chopped their veggies, chooe their own spice and flavouring combos, and learnt the brining process. They each went away with 2 or 3 truly personalised jars they could call their own 🥕🥒 We were so happy to welcome so many smiling (and focused!) faces in the kitchen. We would love for yours to be amongst them! Book into our May class now before it sells out. 📅 Saturday 23 May 🕕 10am-11:30am 📍 The Moving Feast Kitchen, F-Shed 20-21 at The Purpose Precinct, Queen Victoria Market @vicmarket off Peel St, Melbourne 🎟️ Tickets Required! Head to the link in bio to book now!
