Many hands, good work! Last week the good folk at Riverlee joined our Good Spaces team for a volunteer day at the New Epping site. Along with our CEO Kirra, they donned the high vis and took to the tools, helping with slashing, mowing and other general maintenance we do onsite. Riverlee have been a valued partner to Good Cycles for over two years, with Good Spaces providing a huge number of outdoor services. The most important work it offers? It’s a brilliant supporter of our Youth Employment Program, allowing a number of YEP participants to gain invaluable experience - on the tools and off - for a number of different skills. Find out more in our blog post on our website now! .au/good-news/many-hands-good-work/ #GoodCycles #GoodSpaces #OutdoorMaintenance #YouthEmployment #SocialEnterprise

Hi there Lani! πŸ‘‹ Lani was one of our young people who delivered over 10,000 FOGO parcels to @cityofmelbourne residents earlier this year. FOGO (food and garden organics) helps green waste get recycled properly, keeping our community and environment clean and safe. A special shout out to Lucas, our Operations Coordinator, who stepped up into the team leader role this year and nailed it! With new technology, a dozen staff to coordinate and challenging weather conditions, Lucas led the project and kept everything running smooth. Learn more about our Good Deliveries team, their terrific FOGO project and the impact opportunities it creates on our website - new blog post up now. Today is World Youth Skills Day, a day to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. At Good Cycles, we know that real jobs and real experience make all the difference. In 2024, we provided 34,578 hours of paid work to 49 young people through our Youth Employment Program, helping them build both technical and transferable skills whilst earning adult award wages. Our participants face significant barriers – 82% had 2 or more barriers to employment including lack of work experience (65%), mental health challenges (51%), and long-term unemployment (39%). Yet from the hard work they put into their roles with Good Cycles, we also see some great outcomes: πŸ”Έ 100% reported increasing their skills relevant to future employment πŸ”Έ 88% maintained employment with Good Cycles for more than 6 months πŸ”Έ 83% reported improved peer relationships πŸ”Έ 81% reported increased sense of self-confidence As one of our YEP participants shared: "This is a place where you can feel comfortable learning on the job, where you are expected to make mistakes and gradually improve in your role." Creating green, inclusive and sustainable jobs isn't just about employment – it's about building confidence, fostering community connection, and empowering young people to reach their full potential. πŸ’‘βš‘The incredible @geelong_sustainability Electric Homes Program is back and fully charged for 2025! Good Cycles Geelong is very proud to join this award winning initiative, encouraging and educating households to lower energy bills, transition away from gas, take climate action and improve home comfort in all temperatures - hot and cold. eBikes are a great way to transport yourself and your family, as a cleaner, greener and cheaper alternative to a car. But don't stop there! This program offers more, such as home energy audits, draught proofing, home insulation, hot water heat pumps, solar, induction cooktop installation, electric vehicles and more! If you are a resident in the Greater Geelong, Surf Coast, Golden Plains and Colac Otway shires, check out @geelong_sustainability for more information, and register to learn more about the products and services you are interested in. #GoodCyclesGeelong #ElectricHomesProgram #AllElectricHomes #GeelongElectricHomes #SustainableLiving #LetsGoAllElectric

Give it up for these legends with heart! πŸ§‘πŸ’š The crew at @hopnationbeer chose us to be their 2025 Heart of Melbourne charity partner, helping raise funds for Good Cycles through the sale of their flagship The Heart Pale Ale throughout June. Along with the fundraising, they also invited us for a community ride and pop-up servicing to wrap up the month. Despite the gloomy weather, we loved catching up with other riders, keen see the upcoming Veloway open (conveniently right by the @hopnationfootscray taphouse!) Thank you again to the Hop Nation team, who also visited our CBD store to learn more about Good Cycles, and their customers, publicans and bottle shops that supported this campaign. Big heart to you all!

NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians to recognise and be proud of the oldest continuous living culture on earth. It’s an important opportunity to celebrate the culture, history and achievements of First Nations people while recognising the ongoing impact that colonisation still has to this day. Do you know what NAIDOC stands for? On 26 January 1938, while many Australians celebrated the 150th anniversary of the landing of the First Fleet, a group of over 1000 Aboriginal people gathered at Australia Hall in Sydney to call for full citizenship status and laws to improve the lives of First Nations people. As one of the first major civil rights gatherings in the world, this day became known as the Day of Mourning. Since then, National NAIDOC Week has grown to become both a commemoration of the first Day of Mourning as well as a celebration of the history, culture and excellence of First Nations people. National NAIDOC Week is observed annually from the first Sunday in July until the following Sunday. Now you know! We would like to acknowledge that we are a non-Indigenous organisation and we cannot speak for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. As we have done so previously, we are sharing some resources and organisations that we have found useful in our own ongoing education and support: @naidocweek @koorieyouthcouncil @seedmob @deadlyscienceorg @indigenousliteracyfoundation @clothingthegaps @commongroundfirstnations @blakouttriplej @nitv_au Sovereignty was never ceded. Australia is and always will be Aboriginal land.
