Our next monthly gathering will be this coming Monday the 18th at 7:30pm. We will be covering the varietals Carignan and Vermentino! We kindly ask you to bring 1-2 bottles of these — as long as one of these varietals are present in the bottle, all expressions are fair game including blends and co-ferments. To snag your spot, please rsvp to: [email protected] and we can’t wait to see you there. 😈

After an ice and snow storm delayed our meet-up twice, we finally made it to our Zinfandel and Melon meet-up at the beautiful and cozy @rowancoffee West. This year we’re focusing on varietals and we had such an awesome time getting to experience these varietals side by side. We had a mind-blowing skin contact Melon from France, some lighter expressions of Zin than expected, and this really lovely Melon Cremant from Burgundy. A big shout out to the folks from @communitytap for rolling in deep to the tasting. We’re so excited for this next chapter exploring varietals! Which varietals do you want to see next?

What a way to wrap up our last meet-up of 2025. A huge thank you to Chef Sam for hosting us at @quenchavl on Monday. We explored wines from South America and Mexico and honestly, Mexico really showed out! 🍷🇲🇽 Thanks to everyone for bringing some really stellar wines. In case you weren’t there, we announced that we’ll be starting 2026 as an exploration of varietals for our monthly meetings and our Super Taster meet-ups will return with a focus on climates and soil types. We can’t wait to go a little deeper with our wine knowledge in 2026 and keep learning with y’all. As always: THANK YOU and keep your eyes peeled for your next bottle to bag! 👀

“The wine coursed in their veins and tired limbs, and they felt glad and easy of heart as they had not done since they left the land of Lórien.” Was this quote about Frodo and Sam in Ithilien or of our tasting group as we journeyed through the regions of Middle Earth last night? We were led through a comprehensive tasting of Middle Earth by our guide, Phil of @bebopbottleshop , and we couldn’t have been in better hands. It was so fun to challenge our brains in a different way and taste to try and figure out what region of Middle Earth they may be! Big ups to @___deerose for the PO-TA-TOES and Lembas bread and to @_big_randi_ ‘s Dad @godzilla1950 for the amazing map placemats! We’ve got one more tasting of 2025. We can’t wait to end the year with y’all. Keep your eyes out for the next invite and your next bottle to bag! 💜😈

Our first Purple Teeth Field Trip was one for the books. A massive thank you to @totscicle and @addisonfarms for hosting a lovely and educational afternoon! Also, thanks to all of you who came out and made it so special! We started the afternoon with testing brix in a Petit Manseng plot and then were surprised with a blind tasting (in true Purple Teeth fashion) of North Carolina wines. The tasting was full of Vinefera and non-Vinefera wines, Female wine makers, natty and traditional expressions, and lots of fun tasting notes! There was a favorite for everyone and we learned so much about NC Winemaking (thanks to all the badass NC winemakers in attendance)! For example, a favorite was a Muscadine wine done in a Solera method by @defiwines - who knew how absolutely experimental and delicious NC wine could be?! We ended the tasting with a huge snack spread and watched the epic sunset roll in. What a day! We’re so pumped to do something like this again. Where do you want to go next?

What a great Super Taster we had on Sunday at @bebopbottleshop . We drank 6 Syrah’s from all over the world and learned a ton. We love being able to dive deeper together and share our insights and knowledge together in this setting to gain a deeper understanding of the Noble Varietals! Fan favorites were the Cornas, the Californian, and of course the textbook example from Penfolds. We’ll be doing Chenin Blanc in November, so if you wanna take a deep dive into that varietal keep your eyes peeled for the invite.

Monday night in “Pretty Vacant” at the @theradicalhotelavl was wild! You know we were all pumped for France because we had 27 wines to share! Wow. So many people pulled out the stops with the wines brought. Lots of lean whites and bright reds, not to mention some beautifully aged bottles as well. Wow! The fan favorite that was completely 86ed by the reveal was the Les Enfants Sauvages Che Chauvio Syrah and Cinsault blend from Languedoc-Roussillon brought by Lyndon. Absolutely gorgeous! We’ve got a fun little twist planned for next month that we are super pumped about. Keep your eyes peeled for the next date to drop! 🤙🏽

Germany! What a fun line-up… Of course there was plenty of Riesling and Pinot Noir, but we had some great correct calls of regions and native varietals like Dornfelder. A big thank you to the lovely and intimate bar at @zeldadearest for hosting us. We can’t wait to see what this summer brings. We’ve got some fun stuff planned. Keep your eyes peeled for the next country we’ll be tasting and that RSVP drop. 🤘🏽🍷

To Our Purple Teeth Community- The first time we posted about our first Purple Teeth Gathering was a year to the day. It was a what felt like a wild idea from three industry friends who believed in the AVL wine community so much, but wanted to bring it together more than ever. We envisioned an open space to collaborate with likeminded individuals and businesses and thrive in a safe environment. Our first meet-up was magic and as we progressed every month our community just kept thriving. We had big plans for our one year anniversary, but we could have never fathomed the impacts of Hurricane Helene in our community. Our first meet-up was at @gourmandasheville , and the last time we got to gather was at @plebavl . Both of these spaces, who have been integral to the wine community and folks in AVL, are either gone or close to it. We have been in heavy shock and grief, like all of you, but we can see a glimmer in the distance. Purple Teeth will live on, despite the struggles our industry will inevitably face. Our community is more important now than EVER. The community we have created over the past year is not going anywhere, if anything, we’re just beginning a new chapter. We’ve got something in the works and we can’t wait to see all of you again. To share a glass, collaborate, hug, cry, laugh, and keep exploring. Wine brought us together, but what we have now is something far more invaluable- ONE ANOTHER. With love, Miranda, Dee, & TJ

Super Taster Group - Riesling Edition: WHAT. A. LINEUP. Last night at @levellerbrewing we tasted some truly beautiful expressions of one of our favorite grapes. We tasted eight Rieslings from around the globe, including three subregions from Germany. Because, how could we not?! The crowd favorite of the night was the 2022 “Stir” from @lauerwine in Mosel. What a truly beautiful and textbook Riesling. 🤯 Truly a stunner. That’s not to say the rest of the lineup wasn’t incredible, swipe to check it out! And make sure you peep the last photo of everyone getting their own personal lineup photo. We’re having so much fun with this structured and focused group. Our next one is in November, so we’re thinking one of the big and bold varietals like Cabernet, Syrah, or Merlot. What should we pick? Choose your fighter below:

Big ups to Lauren & Chris @plebavl for hosting our crew last night… what a treat! We had a full house, lots of new faces, and of course, a bunch of awesome bottles. There was a Palomino in the mix last night and it got a lot more calls than the last time we had one in the lineup… PROUD 🥹! Lots of Italian wine on the table this month, highlights included some stunning Vermentino, Kerner of the Alto-Adige, a couple different expressions of Nebbiolo, and Purple Teeth’s first Brunello di Montalcino. Thanks to everyone who came out, we can’t wait for next month… LOVE 💜

TYSM @wickedweedfunkatorium for such a fun space for our July Gathering. Thank you to all the new and familiar faces that came through last night. What a stellar group that brought some super fun wines! We think we can all be proud of the notes we pulled from some of those bottles- like who was actually going to nail a skin contact Vitovska last night? Not us, not yet, but still so glad it made an appearance. Also, a big shout out to that Mondeuse from the Savoie that was showing out. What were your favorites last night? Maybe one of the surprising Chards from Australia? What will we see next month? The only way to find out is to make sure you snag a spot to the August meet-up, so keep your eyes peeled for that drop date. 💜
