Beautiful wines on the current btg list and niçoise salad, oysters, and toasties on the menu for tonight at Rowan West! Come through for some sips and bites. We’re here till 8:00 ✨💌
Sometimes the space is just so good you couldn’t mess it up if you tried. No doubt this was one of those spaces and the folks @rowancoffee allowed us the opportunity to transform it with their trademark style. Nothing is better for a construction company than being chosen to work for the same customer twice. We are beyond grateful to have been involved 🙏
We’re seeking a talented kitchen manager and a line cook to join our team at Rowan West to help us continue to grow our food program.
Bonus points if you:
* Love working with local farms to create seasonal dishes
* Are solution oriented and embrace limitations to inspire creativity
* Enjoy working collaboratively with a small team
* Have creativity for accommodating dietary restrictions

We’re currently offering a side by side tasting of two coffees from renowned producer, Angel Arturo Paz. For one cup, a Maracaturra, roasted by @timwendelboe and for the second a pacas roasted by us!
Both cups present quite tropical and floral, but there are distinct differences, which we attribute primarily to plant genetics (we even measured the color and found that they were very similar roast levels).
Pacas is a natural mutation of the bourbon variety, and is commonly grown in Santa Barbara. Maracaturra is a hybrid of Caturra and Maragogipe, and is a relatively uncommon variety in our experience (we’ve only had a couple of them ever).
This is a pretty limited offering as we only have a little bit of the Maracaturra, but it’s available at both locations. The pacas is new to our menu and is now live on our site!
🎂 Rowan West Turns One 🎂
A year has flown by, but seeing white dogwood branches in the vase makes it feel real because those are the same flowers we had on opening day.
April 5th is the anniversary and that Sunday morning, we have a lil bar takeover with @ilsecoffee , one of our core roasting partners when we first started Rowan over five years ago!! They’re a big inspiration of ours to this day and we’re stoked to have Lucas from Ilse behind our bar brewing some beautiful coffees. ✨
Last year on April 4th, we hosted a friends and family night with lots of wine and food. Now that we have so many friends and family in West Asheville, you’re all invited this year. We’ll be running dinner specials and might pop open a mag of champagne if we’re feeling crazy. 🍾
Swipe to the end for some film photos from our opening days at West.
Fridays are QC days for us. We’ve got several new coffees in the works, and we’ve been busy profiling and cupping for the past few weeks. We compare sensory notes with the data we collect for color, weight loss, and roasting specs to finalize our roasting approach.
We’ve already released two new coffees, Silvia Ordoñez and Habtamu Fekadu Aga, and they’ve been tasting great on the table! Keep an eye out for a few more in the coming weeks.
It’s warm. It’s sunny. But most importantly, it’s Thursday which means 25% off bottles of wine at Rowan West.
Bring a friend or bring a crush. We’re here till 8pm!🥂❤️🔥
ETHIOPIA | HAMASHO
Blueberry ~ Mango ~ Elderflower
This is our second year bringing in a natural processed lot from the Hamasho station in Ethiopia. This one has been a standout out on the cupping table every week: exceptionally clean and focused with flavors of berries, tropical fruits, and perfumey florals.
Although this lot is from the 2025 harvest, we’re finding zero evidence of fade or drop in quality, which is a testament to the processing and drying at the Hamasho station. While we’re looking forward to fresh crop Ethiopians soon, these last coffees will be a tough act to follow!
Currently on the retail shelf are some beautiful coffees from @seycoffee and @timwendelboe . Though these roasters are no strangers to our shelves, two of the coffees themselves are an exploration into some relatively uncommon varieties for us: SL9 (also known as Inca Gesha) and Maracaturra.
The SL9, grown by Albino Ibias, in Peru is electric and floral with flavors of yuzu and jasmine. The Maracaturra, grown by Angel Arturo Paz, in Honduras is tropical and juicy with flavors like mango and orange blossom.
The processing and roasting on both are excellent and a great example of what quality these varieties have to offer.
Find the Sey at our downtown cafe and the Tim Wendelboe at our west asheville cafe.
On the daytime menu this weekend at Rowan West:
🍐Poached Pear Parfait - wine poached pears, yogurt, granola, red wine sauce
Beets & Burrata - shaved fennel, dill oil, sunflower seeds, lemon
🥗Niçoise Style Salad - kale & radicchio, sunburst smoked trout, boiled eggs, onion, capers, dill
A quick shout out to our kitchen team for crushing a busy weekend with our Valentine’s dinner and then hitting the ground running again this week. 🫶
