“Depressed” is out peeps!! So HAPPY 😝 to finally share this one.�The release feels extra emotional today☺️ We all need some rainbow tinsel vibes. Made this at the beginning of the year, during a time that felt heavy and strange. Which is maybe why it mattered so much to do something for art sakes. It was also David Lynch’s bday… and like Mr. Lynch says..if you’re truly wild at heart, you have to fight for your dreams…and with our tender hearts, we sure did. 🌻🌻@theformat you guys truly know how to keep things genuine. Anytime we get to make something on film, it feels like a small victory. We shot @bettercalltheo Lonely Too Long on 16mm with an incredible group of people who showed up with a lot of heart and trust in the process. Music videos like this only exist because a crew values the work we do together. Deeply grateful y’all were down to make it possible. Thank you Theo for coming to me with your dreams, I was so happy to play in your world. It’s a pleasure to get to debut this next chapter, a single from your epic upcoming album. I always said your music reminds me of pink bubble gum in the best way and it’s funny how it magically made its way into the video and future album art. Thank you for letting me put my grandmother Eva as “La Beautée de l’Année.” She meant the world to me and it’s so special to immortalize her on film. Both of my grandmothers got to be in it! BOYCOTT HEAVEN IS OUT TODAY! Another sweet collaboration with @theformat . I love the spirit behind this song, the idea that being “successful” or “on top” is kind of a scam if it costs you your soul. Heaven isn’t always the thing we’re told it is. Which is why making this video felt like a boycott of its own. I got to roam around town with the sweetest people, putting up stickers, holding pins à la Agnès Varda, and leaning into a 90s-cute, simple, joyful video that doesn’t take itself too seriously. A big thanks to everyone that played along! Even the chickens and the dogs! Love my Lockhart town! Stunned at all of the beautiful #super8 that came back from the special @theformat shows! Can’t wait to share the full clips!!! Shooting live shows on super8 is another beast of its own- especially if you’re pulling focus so quickly but I got y’all and more !!!! THE FORMAT “HOLY ROLLER” Was a joy to shoot the return of pop punk band @theformat on 35mm @kodak_shootfilm with an amazing team. We had max 1-2 takes per shot, all shot in 1 day on Arricam LT and Canon K35 25-120 zoom, b camera was my SR2 with a Canon 10.5-210 (shoutout to my brother on b cam @benmullen ). Was a lot of fun to use the Arri Timing Shift box also known by Vanessa and I on set as “The time splitter”. Thanks again to @pukapla for having me. This project was pure magic from beginning to end. So honored to be a part of @theformat epic comeback after 20 years! And thrilled that these guys wanted to make art on 35mm film and 16mm film! Such a treat to have collaborated with the DREAM TEAM! Daniel really brought so much to the table suggesting we use the time shift box…aka the SPLITTER…( I’m like a two year old on set that makes up names for things instead of calling them by the right thing…but lucky that my team is the best and went along with the joke) Also lucky us for having Ben on B-Cam grabbing epic shots. Shooting this video was the ultimate splitter, split screens, split brains, split dimensions. And we made magic happen. Thank you soooo much to everyone involved!
