The ARRI Timing Shift Box adjusts the phase relationship of the mirror shutter to the movement. The result is the film being exposed during the pull-down phase, which creates a streaking effect. The Timing Shift Box also features a “Jitter” function. This introduces a fluctuation in the timing shift strength creating a fluctuation or “jitter” of the length of the streak.
There is a blue Timing Shift Box for the ARRIFLEX 435 Advanced and 435 Xtreme. There is a red Timing Shift Box for the ARRICAM LT and ST. Both are available at Standard!
