The maiden event of Psychnovation was held at the Makanjuola Lecture hall, Ojo campus on July 14th, 2025.
At the event, students, guests, and speakers filled the venue to witness the unveiling of a platform aimed at blending psychology with innovation to address everyday issues in society.
Hosted by Rukayyat Giwa and Rema Omeh, the event kicked off with the National Anthem and an inclusive interfaith prayer session, setting a tone of unity and diversity.
Co-founders Suad and Mariam shared the heart behind Psychnovation, emphasizing its mission to equip young people with tools for mental clarity, self-awareness, and problem-solving. One of the standout moments came from keynote speaker Mr. Boyega Abdulkareem, who shared his journey through loneliness, community building, and the development of an app, now used by thousands. His story served as proof that with dedication and purpose, young innovators can bring big ideas to life.
The second half of the event focused on self-discovery and personal growth. AbdulFatah Oluwatobi moderated a thoughtful panel session with Miss Zainab Aderounmu, who offered practical advice on identifying one’s strengths and using joy and experience as guides.
This was followed with an engaging panel, which was moderated by Ashiru Abibat, featuring Mr. Toluwalase Adekoya and Mr. Ibrahim Salami. This segment blended creativity, education, and honest conversations about tech and research.
Mr. Toluwalase addressed real challenges like ADHD and OCD stressing the importance of African-rooted solutions.
The event wrapped up with an award ceremony to appreciate speakers and contributors, followed by a motivating call to action. Attendees were urged to act boldly, embrace their ideas, and collaborate across different fields be it tech, faith, or academia.
