During my NYSC, my office desk was positioned in a way that I could see the TV and we always tuned to CNN. Mid-work, I would stop to practice the presenters’ intro with so much zest! “Hello, my name is Zainab from Lagos, Nigeria, and this. Is. CNN.” I would practice it over and over again, until I remembered I was working. When I was 8 years old, I told my parents I wanted to be an actress, and that Big Aunty @funkejenifaakindele was my role model. 😂 By the time I wanted to get into the university, my dad vehemently rejected my proposal of studying theatre arts. “You want to dance for a living???,” he questioned incredulously and I had to choose something else. Fast forward to today and that fire, though expanded, keeps burning. I had a great time hosting the Rubbin‘ Minds special edition this Sunday. We spoke about post-Ramadan and how Nigerians can unite despite cultural and religious differences. At the core of it is our shared humanity.
