Dear Dreamer,
These pictures were supposed to be my official pictures as the 33rd LASUSU Clerk, but they never made it to the timeline.
And because of thoughts like, āEven the Speaker never post official pictures, wetin be your own Madam Clerk?ā and āO tun seh make-up.ā š¹ I genuinely came up with over 700 reasons why I should not post them, and somehow, they won.
That was me downplaying myself and my achievements. I told myself, whatās so special about being a Clerk? Did you become Speaker or President? Itās just Clerk, relax.
And just like that, I let my inner thoughts win. I didnāt post my pictures. I didnāt share much about my administration. I kept downplaying everything I had worked for.
There is someone somewhere doing the exact same thing⦠thinking they are doing ātoo muchā for something that feels ātoo small.ā
The moment I decided to fully own the title of Madam Clerk, everything shifted. The way I saw myself changed. My confidence changed. My presence changed. There was something in me that no longer needed external validation. I felt lighter, freer⦠like a bird finally learning how to fly without permission.
And from that moment, I realized something simple but powerful: everything you need to become who you envision is already in YOU.
The lesson I didnāt know I was learning was never to downplay myself.
You are everything you believe you are, regardless of external validation. Own it, and build on it. I hope anyone reading this continues to bet on themselves.
Welcome to Episode 4 of Lessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning.
Yours sincerely,
RMG.

Dear Dreamer,
You know how sometimes, the things you naturally enjoy doing slowly become a part of you? I think that was how I found my love for communications.
Funny enough, I genuinely did not like Mass Communication at first. I wanted to study Law so badly, but as life would have it, today I have a B.Sc. in Communication.
Iāve always loved writing. I loved documenting moments, thoughts, and experiences. Not necessarily posting them, but just having my own little space to create.
Then somewhere along the line, I realized I could do more. So I started showing up.
Any opportunity connected to writing, communications, media, content, or storytelling? You would definitely find me there. I volunteered a lot, joined different teams, and tried things I had never done before. And without even realizing it, every single experience was sharpening me.
Every project made me better.
Every team taught me something new.
Every opportunity stretched me differently.
My writing improved.
My editing got better.
My graphic design and storytelling skills became stronger.
But beyond the technical skills, I was learning something even deeper, how to work with people, how to communicate better, how to grow through experience, and how to keep becoming.
And the funny thing is, I didnāt even realize these were lessons at the time. I was simply doing things I genuinely loved.
Thatās why I always say: no knowledge is ever wasted. Every experience teaches you something. Every season is shaping you for something bigger, even when you cannot fully see it yet.
So on this episode of Lessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning, I hope you give yourself the grace to learn, the grace to keep becoming, and the grace to figure things out one step at a time.
Welcome to Episode 3 of Lessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning.š„
Yours sincerely,
RMG.

Dear Dreamer,
One thing I didnāt know I was learning in 300 level was how important it is to tell your own story.
That year stretched me in ways I still struggle to explain. I was the HOC, Clerk of the Union Parliamentary Council, Lagos State Youth Ambassador, Head of Publications & Head of Marketing for LASU Quill and Gong, and still doing my SIWES as a full-time student.
In the middle of all of that, I also doubled as the Chairperson of one of the biggest national parliamentary summits in LASU. And somehow, we pulled it off.
The summit became the talk of school for weeks. The hall was full by 9AM for a program scheduled for 10AM. We had to bring in extra chairs because people kept coming in. Every guest speaker showed up. Every invited personality came through. It was a success beyond what we imagined. We even held the very first press conference for the summit.
But hereās the funny part⦠I barely told my story.
I made maybe one or two posts and moved on because a part of me felt like talking about my contribution meant I was doing too much. I thought: āOkay, you did your job⦠so what?ā Meanwhile, I had poured my strength, time, sleep, heart, and sanity into that event.
Looking back now, I realize something: sometimes people are not aware of the weight of what you carried because you never gave yourself permission to say it out loud.
And no, telling your story is not pride.
It is documentation.
It is ownership.
It is legacy.
Because if you donāt tell your story properly, the world will only see fragments of your work.
That season stressed me deeply. It was one of the hardest periods of my university life because I was constantly trying to prove to myself that I could carry everything at once.
But one lesson stayed with me: Your story deserves to be told by YOU.
So if youāre building somethingā¦
creating somethingā¦
leading somethingā¦
surviving somethingā¦
Donāt shrink your story.
Tell it the way you want it to be remembered.
Welcome to Episode 2 of Lessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning.š„
Yours sincerely,
RMG.

Dear Dreamer,
Before we even get into the lessons, I think the very first lesson I didnāt know I was learning was this: Your dreams are valid. Very, very valid.
And let nobody tell you otherwise.
Looking at these pictures now, I had no idea what God was doing with my life then. Funny enough, I didnāt even take these pictures myself. They were just little moments captured from my childhood.
But one thing remained consistent: the heart, the dreamer, the becoming, the woman I was growing into before I even understood what becoming meant.
And maybe thatās the same for you too.
Maybe even as a child, there were parts of you already speaking. Dreams already forming.
Light already shining. A version of you refusing to give up before life even introduced itself fully.
So before we begin unpacking the lessons, I need you to remember this: You were valuable before the world taught you to question yourself. And your dreams mattered before anybody validated them.
One thing Iāve realized is that the childlike part of me never left. And honestly, I still hold her very dearly.
Even when life forces me to be an adult, a part of me still just wants to be a baby. Soft. Hopeful. Free.
So Dreamer, on this journey of becoming, I pray you never lose the inner child within you.
And I pray you always remember: your dreams are valid.
Welcome to Episode 1 of Lessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning.š„
Yours Sincerely,
RMG.

The Big Announcement is hereeee!š„³š
Recently, I was going through my Google Photos and stumbled on so many memories from school, old moments, random videos, and different seasons of my life. Looking through them made me pause for a second because wow⦠what a story God has been writing all along.
And the funny thing is, while living through those moments, I didnāt even realize I was learning some of the biggest lessons that would shape me into who Iām becoming today.
Now, the big announcement⦠drumrolls!!!!š„āØ
Starting tomorrow, Iāll be sharing a 20-day series called:
āLessons I Didnāt Know I Was Learning.ā
A journey through throwbacks, memories, moments, growth, mistakes, wins, and the little experiences that quietly taught me so much about life, purpose, people, faith, communication, growth, and becoming.
Because honestly, a lot of us are trying to figure life out in real time. Iāve had conversations with mentors, friends, acquaintances, and even myself lately about navigating the future and trusting the process. And one thing Iām realizing is this:
Sometimes the lessons are already happening before we even recognize them.
So tomorrow, we begin Episode 1!š„¹
And for every episode, weāll begin with āDear Dreamerā because thatās exactly who we are and what this community stands for.
So officially⦠welcome to the community, Dreamers. š¤
See you tomorrow, dreamers!š„š¤
Yours sincerely,
RMG!āØ

One of the most underrated ways to become a better communicator is by listening.
Not just hearing people talk, but paying attention to how great conversations flow. The questions, the storytelling, the perspective, the clarity.
A huge part of how Iāve developed my communication style has come from podcasts. Listening to brilliant minds speak has stretched the way I think, communicate, and understand people.
These podcast episodes are some I highly recommend. Enjoy them the way I did.

Someone once asked me, āHow do you never run out of content?ā Simple. I feed my mind.
I read things that challenge me. I listen to conversations that stretch my thinking.
And every time, I find something worth talking about.
These are some of the books that have shaped how I think. I highly recommend them.
