Stone Island has always been romantic about the ocean.
The sea is woven into the brand’s identity just as deeply as the compass badge itself – an emblem itself that was lifted from a crest on Massimo Osti’s childhood boat. By all accounts, Osti was obsessed with maritime life. He sailed in his spare time, holidayed along the Italian coast, and, obviously, there’s that iconic photo of him carting a wheelbarrow full of fish.
Pretty much all of our favourite Stone Island visuals from over the years feature the coast somewhere in them, and SEVENSTORE’s new ‘Contemporary Refined’ editorial continues that tradition. For the campaign, the retailer has taken Stone Island (among other brands) back to its true home, in a visit to a vibrant yet faded Italian seaside town.

By all logic, a blog page that was last posted on in 2015 should have long been forgotten about. But despite Gwarizm’s 11-year hiatus, it’s one of the most talked about, visited, and fondly remembered resources in existence.
Whatever you’re wearing now, @gwarizm founder Gary Warnett was probably wearing fifteen years ago – but in his own words, that doesn’t really matter: ‘Life is about discovery and evolving tastes.’ And no one, before or since Gwarizm’s departure, discovered more than Gary.
Gwarizm was a blog rooted in streetwear started in June of 2009. But by his own admission, Gary never intended for Gwarizm to become a fashion blog; it was simply a place for him to share whatever came into his mind ‘on a Wednesday or Sunday evening.’
But while most of us spent those allotted periods thinking about what to have for dinner, Gary’s brain was swimming with old Nike ACG scans, never-before-seen Japanese streetwear catalogues, grainy clips of streetwear documentaries and everything in between.

The testing of Nike footwear in alpine environments was previously unprecedented, and the ascent ultimately lead to the formation of Nike’s ACG line in 1989.

If you’ve been alive for more than 18 years and have spent any of that time in the UK, you’ll have some sort of history with @reebokeurope . Whether it was watching your brother’s mates boot a ball around the park in a pair of Workouts, or owning a pair of Classics yourself that you wore a little too hard, Reebok is one of those footwear brands you just can’t escape.
Born in Bolton but since conquering just about every other corner of the globe, Reebok is a brand – and a story – we’ve admired since the early days at Proper. Now, for a new segment, we’re catching up with friends and family to dig a little deeper into their own history with Reebok.
First in our crosshairs is Vinnie, of @sneakerpharm – a Manchester-based shoe care boutique that’s resurrected more Reeboks than we can shake a stick at. Vinnie quite literally knows Reebok inside out, and having grown up in Bolton, it’s a brand that has been there with him since day one.

We started the day with a 7-kilometre jaunt around some predictably muddy trails, before reconvening later in the evening at @permanentorbit to enjoy sounds from local Manchester DJs and refreshments from @weareghostlabs@goodrays and @v.goode_pies

We used to pray for times like these: increasingly warm weather, shorts becoming acceptable again, and lightweight technical jackets on deck at all times.
We might not quite have reached summer just yet, but we’re certainly moving in the right direction – and here at Proper HQ we couldn’t be more happy about it.

Shorts weather is finally here – unless you’re a postman or a certified hardcase, in which case it never truly left.
The recent heat has rolled in so suddenly that we’ve barely had time to prepare, let alone dress for it. And if you’re anything like us, your summer wardrobe currently consists of a couple of shrunken tees and a pair of shorts that haven’t seen a wash since last August.
It’s only going to get hotter over the next few months – even if the British weather does its best to argue otherwise. Which means there’s no better time than now to start lining up the summer essentials. Chief among them: shorts.
