The colour palette at Jacket began with the original 1950's hex mosaic tiles on the footpath outside. Mustard and deep ochre reds became the base tones that shaped a warm, comforting atmosphere. Once the general vibe was established, we started experimenting with sharp pops of primary colour â moments of surprise and delight. Like an offbeat cymbal splash or a trumpet shriek.
Big thanks to our longtime collaborator and modern-day alchemist Allan Grimes @grimesandsons for the custom stain work across the timber and cork. You always manage to bring the music to our work.

Proper seating doesnât happen by accident.
Every line, radius and junction mulled over so the space feels as good as it looks.
One Proper Heck of a collab with @stellingcarpentry . Built for late nights, bad decisions and one more round, please.

The hero piece as always is the bar.
Working with the existing footprint from the buildingâs previous chapter, we gave it one hell of a glow up. Solid Tassie blackwood wraps the workbench, setting the tone while you get ready for one off the wood.

Jacket leans into intimate and intentional seating. Radiused banquettes and high-tops make the most of a tight footprint without compromising on comfort. Youâll be sure to catch a live set at jacket whist knowing youâve got a good spot.

Jacket involved a big portion of site-built joinery.
@stellingcarpentry and I spent plenty of time on site, carefully refining the panelling and consoles in situ, while building as much as possible in our workshops.
All timber polishing and varnishing was completed by us on site, giving us full control over the colour and quality of the final finish.

Heckâs use of a primary colour palette brings a bold yet playful energy throughout the space.
Rich stained Tassie Blackwood is the main hero timber choice alongside custom stained cork flooring. Ebony inlays set a focal point for the eye as you start chatting about the many details throughout the bar.
Jacket Bar you truly have been fun one to build â¤ď¸

Once a cafĂŠ, the space next door is now a seamless extension of Love Shack Brewing.
The dividing wall was opened up to create a fresh bistro area with a cohesive feel.
