In the second-half of 2025, Problems Printing worked with artist Erick Medel (@erick.medel ) to produce his first collaborative silkscreen print editions, 2 Amigos and 2 Flores (2026). Zero Days Without Problems, illustrated and printed by our resident Printmaker Nick Perry (@nick3am ), chronicles the mishaps, accidents, crashes, and disasters that occurred during the first two years of Problems Printing. The print is part comic relief, part ode to the chaos of starting a new studio in a new place. The problems never stopped—so we allowed them to be a part of the story. 📺 Watch Part 3: Making a Print with Erick Medel Printmaker Nick Perry offers a glimpse into the way colors were mixed for 2 Amigos. Informed by the colors in Medel’s thread paintings, Perry studied the threads in relation to their typical denim substrate in order to reflect a similar color relationship between ink and paper. For our recent print collaboration with Erick Medel, a custom-built drawing machine was created by artist, engineer, and fabricator J.D. Fontanella. The drawing machine produces zig-zag marks akin to the stitch pattern used in Medel’s sewn works. As an entirely novel process to us all, drawing the films for this print was a point of true collaboration.
