Happy Holidays from Present Future Architects! Inspired by our work in Reverberations, this year’s holiday card explores pattern, structure and surprise!

From August 13 to November 7, 2025, we had the opportunity to participate in Reverberations: Alexander Girard Forever, an exhibition curated by Suzie Shin and Rick Valecenti. The exhibition acknowledged and celebrated Alexander Girard’s enduring influence across multiple design disciplines. As featured artists in the Architecture and Interiors division, we designed a series of seven architectural elements: an entrance, wall, archway, screen, seating, curtain, and furniture. Each element was derived from a scaled 4'-0" × 4'-0" Alexander Girard pattern, transforming a flat graphic language into a three-dimensional architectural expression. Through folding techniques inspired by origami, the models become scaled components of an iterative spatial system—one that can be rearranged and reconfigured into multiple spatial compositions. The repetition, adaptability, color, and pattern of the work reference Girard’s playful design spirit, translating his two-dimensional patterns into a tactile, spatial experience. North Austin Community Center (NACC) is a collaboration between (3) non-profits: Intentional Sports, By The Hand Club For Kids and Grace & Peace Church. The athletic spaces include gymnasiums, performance training, physical therapy, multi-purpose for dance/gatherings, nutrition bar, Riot Games E-sports lounge, admin/support spaces and an indoor FIFA regulation turf field which garnered the attention & sponsorship of the Chicago Fire FC along with a baseball academy by Jason Heyward. The educational spaces include K-12 classrooms, computer labs, game room, kitchen & administration.
