As part of Construction Safety Week, our entire company stepped away from the day-to-day work to recognize and celebrate the importance of safety across every GMA jobsite. Workers from projects across Chicago came together at our Parkside Apartments project for our annual Safety Week cookout. This event was more than just a BBQ — it was an opportunity to recognize the commitment, teamwork, and accountability that keep our people safe every day.
Thanks to the dedication of our management team and trade partners, GMA Construction Group proudly completed 2025 with zero lost-time injuries for the eighth consecutive year.

We are still buzzing over last week's groundbreaking at 750 Avers with our client 548 Enterprise! This $48M new construction development includes 60 mixed-income units, an open-air plaza, community space, and will be passive house certified. As part of Mayor Brandon Johnson's Build Better Together initiative, the project will bring major investment to the Humboldt Park neighborhood.
GMA closed out last week with a groundbreaking at the Parkside V project - GMA's largest project to date! Even more significant, the project resides on the former site of Cabrini Green, where GMA CEO, Cornelius Griggs, lived as a child. Bringing affordable housing to this community in partnership with the entire development team is an exciting endeavor for our firm, and we cannot wait to bring these buildings to life!

Yesterday, GMA was honored to host @chicagosmayor Brandon Johnson and staff for a jobsite tour at the Dr. Dennis Deer Community Justice Center as the project nears completion. The completed project for Lawndale Christian Legal Center will provide housing and services for 20 young men from North Lawndale who either have pending or completed cases in the Circuit Court of Cook County. The units feature a private bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette. There are shared spaces for socializing and meetings, a commercial kitchen, dining area, a computer lab, workout area, and basketball court.
“This is violence prevention in Chicago. With this $21 million investment in our neighborhood, we will create a new environment for young men to thrive and change the trajectory of their lives. If we want people to break the cycle of arrest and incarceration, we need to ensure that they are not leaving jail and returning to unsafe or unstable living environments. When we can provide housing and job training under one roof, that’s the key for lifelong change. And our clients’ children will have role models for the rest of their lives."
