📆 20 years ago today, Cloud Gate was opened to the public and we've never looked at the city the same way again. Artist Anish Kapoor was inspired by the look of mercury when he came up with the concept of the sculpture—his most famous piece of public artwork in the United States. 🎉 Happy birthday, Bean! 🫘

🏛️ From major landmarks to everyday streetscapes, Jewish architects and civic leaders played a vital role in shaping Chicago. From opulent theaters like the Nederlander to bold icons like Marina City and Beaux-Arts landmarks such as LondonHouse and the Chicago Loop Synagogue, their work has had a lasting impact. This Jewish Heritage Month, we celebrate how Jewish architects, engineers, designers, artists, and community leaders helped shape the city we love. 🤔 Curious to learn more? CAC offers the new tour, Jewish Builders of Chicago, for private groups. Check out the link in bio for details. 📸: Hands of Peace sculpture by artist Henri Azaz, 1963, located at the Chicago Loop Synagogue, Photographer: Craig Shimala
