The 2026 legislative session wrapped up last week with some big wins, and our work continues!

Tonight, the U.S. Supreme Court blocked a lower court order that restricted mifepristone access while a federal lawsuit continues. While the Supreme Court did the bare minimum today, this case is not over. Access to mifepristone is still at risk, even in states where abortion is legal and protected, like Connecticut. We will never stop fighting to make sure that everyone can get the care they need, when and where they need it.
Progress in Connecticut! Legislators have passed a bill requiring private insurers to cover fertility care for LGBTQ+ families and single people. For so many families, this is a meaningful step forward.
While celebrating this win, we urge the legislature to go further – requiring fertility care coverage for families on HUSKY Health. Current Medicaid coverage in Connecticut covers only limited fertility care, a gap that research shows perpetuates racial disparities in access to care. We'll keep pushing until equitable fertility care is a reality for every Connecticut family.
We're almost to the end of the Connecticut legislative session! On the last day of session, we're looking back at our lobby day with our partners from ACOG, Reproductive Equity Now and the Connecticut State Affiliate of the American College of Nurse Midwives. Thanks to all the advocates and legislators fighting for Planned Parenthood patients' access to essential care through the final hours. We've gotten some big wins already this session and we won't back down now!

Tonight, the Connecticut General Assembly passed the FY 2027 budget adjustment that includes an increase to the Medicaid reimbursement rates for family planning providers including Planned Parenthood of Southern New England. This is a crucial step in strengthening public funding for reproductive health care in Connecticut.
We're so grateful to @govnedlamont , Senate President Pro Tempore Martin Looney, Senate Majority Leader @senatorduff , Speaker @repritter , House Majority Leader @rep.jasonrojas and Human Services Committee co-chairs Senator @matthew.lesser and Representative @jilchrest and our many champions in the legislature for fighting for reproductive freedom for Connecticut residents.
