Power Pulp Teams Up With Make More Comics
Power Pulp Comics and Make More Comics are pleased to announce a new partnership, aimed at enabling a new generation of creators to create and distribute their work to wider audiences.
Each year, Make More Comics sends a grant of $1,000 to a single creator to aid in the production of their comics. In the hopes of making their work more readily available to a wider audience, Power Pulp Comics has stepped to the plate. In this exciting new partnership, Power Pulp will invite the winner of the grant into their collective, acting as the distributor for these comics, selling through their website and distributing to stores across the country. This partnership marks a turning point for independent and aspiring creators, not only making their work possible but readily available.
This year’s Make More Comics grant is open until June 15, with the $1,000 winner to be selected by judges John Kelly (Dummy Magazine), Sheika Lugtu (Cowhouse Press and PIE), Corinne Halbert (Acid Nun), and Rachel Massilimani (Nonpartum).
Power Pulp Comics was founded in 2025 by Chris Anderson, James and John Coats, and Jamie Jones, as a distribution collective, pushing back against the models that have long dominated the industry. Originally launching with a roster of 13 creators, this has grown to 52, including the legendary Rick Veitch, Sammy Harkham, Katie Skelly, Jim Rugg, and most recently, Jesse Lonergan.
After the death of the Xeric grant, very few grants have been available to cartoonists. To fill this need, Make More Comics was founded in 2021 by William Hoffknecht. Since then, Make More Comics has been awarding grants to creators looking to publish new comics, including Oliver Arthur, Hana Chatani, and the Ignatz-nominated Chad Bilyeu. Since 2025, Make More Comics has been based in Pittsburgh. Under the direction of Joseph Antoniello, it is taking steps to become a 501(c)3 organization, with aspirations to provide not only funding to but also educational opportunities for youth and adults across the US and the world.
