Power Pulp Teams Up With Make More Comics Power Pulp Comics and Make More Comics are pleased to announce a new partnership, aimed at enabling a new generation of creators to create and distribute their work to wider audiences. Each year, Make More Comics sends a grant of $1,000 to a single creator to aid in the production of their comics. In the hopes of making their work more readily available to a wider audience, Power Pulp Comics has stepped to the plate. In this exciting new partnership, Power Pulp will invite the winner of the grant into their collective, acting as the distributor for these comics, selling through their website and distributing to stores across the country. This partnership marks a turning point for independent and aspiring creators, not only making their work possible but readily available. This year’s Make More Comics grant is open until June 15, with the $1,000 winner to be selected by judges John Kelly (Dummy Magazine), Sheika Lugtu (Cowhouse Press and PIE), Corinne Halbert (Acid Nun), and Rachel Massilimani (Nonpartum). Power Pulp Comics was founded in 2025 by Chris Anderson, James and John Coats, and Jamie Jones, as a distribution collective, pushing back against the models that have long dominated the industry. Originally launching with a roster of 13 creators, this has grown to 52, including the legendary Rick Veitch, Sammy Harkham, Katie Skelly, Jim Rugg, and most recently, Jesse Lonergan. @makemorecomics @powerpulpcomics

Since then, Make More Comics has been awarding grants to creators looking to publish new comics, including Oliver Arthur, Hana Chatani, and the Ignatz-nominated Chad Bilyeu. Since 2025, Make More Comics has been based in Pittsburgh. Under the direction of Joseph Antoniello, it is taking steps to become a 501(c)3 organization, with aspirations to provide not only funding to but also educational opportunities for youth and adults across the US and the world. Unfortunately, one of our judges had to back out of being a part of this year's panel. But when a door closes, another opens! We are extremely excited to be joined by Sheika Lugtu, whom you will know from her amazing work at @pie.burgh and @cowhousepress . This year's applicants will have some tremendous eyes on their work, and we cannot wait to see it all. Visit the link in our bio for more info and apply soon!

Today's the day! 🎉🎉 We are happy to publicly announce the winner of the $1000 Make More Comics Grant for 2025: Oliver Arthur and his comics Seeds! @oleekah This year was extremely competitive and the largest applicant pool in our five-year history. This year included first-time cartoonists, seasoned veterans, and Eisner nominees. Seeds stood out as a beautiful, silent story of discovery, friendship, loss, and growth that spoke volumes to all of our judges. Oliver said to us: “I’m proud of this comic, but it’s always a guessing game when considering how other people might react to it. The news that I’ve received this grant is a huge encouragement; I’m jumping at the chance to get this thing out there to the people. Comics are a bit of a solitary medium; we often make the books by ourselves, publish them by ourselves, and then put them out into the world where a reader enjoys them by themselves, so the opportunity to know that one of my books has made such a good impression is just so awesome.” Many, many thanks to @donaldsimpson1713 , @cosmiclionproductions , @dummyzine , @chrisandersoncomics , and @potaoakland for their work as judges, and the generous support of our founder @100percentcomics that got it all started! For more information on Oliver, you can contact him and purchase his work at the links in his bio @oleekah If you didn't win, don't fret: The 2026 grant cycle will be announced this fall! We are hoping for an even bigger reception next year. Keep your eyes locked here and at the website! #makemorecomics #readmorecomics

Y’all…this is amazing! Our biggest year for the grant so far. I got to meet several of you at @pie.burgh this weekend, and we’ve received books from multiple continents. Special thanks to our panelists, everyone that donated at PIE (we raised nearly $100!), and to everyone who has submitted! If you missed out on our grant, @athenaeumcomicart ’s is still running until April 11. Visit their page for more info. #makemorecomics

Make more mini-comics! We will be serving up free mini-comic blanks at @pie.burgh for you to make your own while at the expo! Share with fellow artists at the show, make one-offs to put online, or make a special comic to hide in other books at your favorite local brick and mortar stores. (Apologies to @jimruggart for the dog swipe!) #makemorecomics #makemoreminicomics
