Multitime Eisner Award winner, @jefflemire is making waves again with a batch of new announcements centered on his signature superhero universe and a fresh horror project set to debut at San Diego Comic‑Con 2026.
Lemire, whose Eisner‑winning résumé includes Black Hammer (Best New Series, 2017), Gideon Falls (2019), and Snow Angels (Best Digital Comic, 2022), has been sharing updates through his Substack newsletter “Tales From the Farm.” In recent posts, he has outlined the next phase for the Eisner‑winning Black Hammer storyline while also teasing the expansion of his DC collaboration Absolute Flash, which reimagines Wally West’s journey in DC’s Absolute Universe with new characters and a major arc driven by the Mirror Master. Issue #15 will introduce the Absolute ATOM to the Absolute Universe.
Adding to the momentum, Lemire will be signing a very limited preview Ashcan of Crowbound #1 at San Diego Comic‑Con 2026. The Ashcan will serve as a rare, on‑the‑ground exclusive, giving attendees an early physical piece of the project before the issue formally hits shelves.
Don’t miss your chance—make sure you’re registered for San Diego Comic‑Con 2026 so you can be in the room when this exclusive Ashcan drops. See you in SD!!

See you this summer!
Gerry Conway, the comic book writer and editor whose work helped shape Marvel and DC, has died at 73. He co-created the Punisher and Firestorm, helped create the Jackal, and wrote the iconic “The Night Gwen Stacy Died,” a story that changed Spider-Man forever. His legacy lives on through the characters and stories he brought to life. #gerryconway

Kelly Thompson @1979semifinalist is bringing Buffy the Vampire Slayer back this summer, with the new comic launching on July 22, just in time for San Diego Comic-Con!
The series was announced at SDCC 2025, alongside the accompanying Angel title, and Thompson is returning with Stephen Byrne @artworkofstephenbyrne on art for the new project.
Since the planned Hulu series is no longer moving forward, this comic should be a welcome stand-in for fans, especially with Thompson and Stephen Byrne revisiting the franchise in a fresh format.
Thompson isn’t new to this—she’s a multi-time Eisner Award-winning writer, including:
• Black Widow (Best New Series, 2021)
• It’s Jeff! (Best Humor Publication, 2024)
• Absolute Wonder Woman (2025)

With his Eisner Hall of Fame induction coming this July at San Diego Comic-Con, @denyscowanart fans will have the chance to witness a true pioneer get his flowers in real time.
A true pioneer in comics:
Co-founder of Milestone Media, helping reshape Black representation in comics
Defining artist on The Question, bringing a raw, noir-driven style to the medium
Key contributor to titles like Black Panther, Power Man and Iron Fist, and more. Now, alongside Writer and 2025 Eisner Award winner @danpgwatters he’s bringing that same energy to Blüdhaven — pushing Nightwing into darker, more psychological territory, with echoes of his Question run.
Make sure you get your passes to #SDCC and attend the #eisnerawards ceremony where we honor our industry legends!

Rest in peace to comics legend Sam Kieth, creator of The Maxx and the first artist on Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. From Epicurus the Sage, Wolverine, and The Incredible Hulk to Zero Girl, Arkham Asylum: Madness, Batman: Secrets, Judge Dredd, and 30 Days of Night, his unmistakable style changed what comic art could be—raw, surreal, and emotionally fearless. His influence is everywhere, and his work will keep inspiring outsiders and dreamers for generations. #samkeith

“Michael (“Mike”) Royer is a comics penciler, inker, and letterer known for being Jack Kirby’s main artistic collaborator at DC Comics in the 1970s. Those works include the Fourth World Saga (Mister Miracle; Superman’s Pal, Jimmy Olsen; Forever People; New Gods), The Demon, and Kamandi, among many others. When Kirby returned to Marvel Comics later that decade, Royer was there with him as well, inking and lettering dozens of titles. A man to whom Kirby would refer as “my favorite inker,” Royer is also highly regarded for his work with Russ Manning on Magnus, Robot Fighter and as a staff artist and designer at The Walt Disney Company for more than 14 years.”
