Starbuck has been having a rough time lately with doctors not being able to figure out the cause of the bump on her nose.
This issue started back in the spring and has been slowly growing and all other attempts (anti-viral, anti-biotic etc) have not been conclusive. She’s currently on pain killers.
The next step would be a CT scan but man Canada’s vet industry is quite exploitative. The costs are currently financially prohibitive for me, but if anyone has had/come across similar experience or would be able to donate for her scan, it would be greatly appreciated. (Scan is about ~$5k)
There’s also a potential laser treatment out of Guelph but that would be in the $20k range 😣

Mannnnnn - this shoulda been better. There’s a lot of fan service and well-thought out sets and sequences…. But there’s also a lot of really bad Volume work and the acting leaves a lot to be desired.
Even from Karl Urban, who we know can pull of this exact character but something about it fell really flat for me. In fact, basically everyone was kinda lame with the very strong exception of Kano and the bloke playing him. No clue who Josh Lawson is but he’s easily the best part of this movie.
Well, him and about 3 really cool and gorey Fatalities that feel as if they could have been ripped straight from the recent video games. I’m actually surprised (/disappointed) that this has a 14A rating as one can safely assume they fought real hard to be able to sell more tickets but also give fans what they want.
There’s a few really good sets and the outdoor location with Baraka and Johnny Cage is the second time that Karl Urban is in a shot taken directly from the source material (the other time being that Doom movie where we see a 1st person POV of Doom Guy).
The plot; meh. No worse, no better than the inane stuff in any of the games (I just realized I did indeed play MK, MKX, MK11, and MK1 - all of those plots were bat-shit insane). The fight choreography had some stand outs but also some duds.
I hope they make a third one but seeing as the opening night Friday imax screening I went to had about 25 people - I doubt this will turn a profit. That’s a shame cuz I still enjoyed my time and I want to see more of Kano.
Oh, something I appreciated from the ticket lady; when she scanned it and saw the film, enthusiastically proclaimed “get over there!” and as I walked towards it “Welcome to Hellrealm!” Nicely done, ticket lady. 👌

Winning that cash from Pluckin’ Fer Bux (by @longdogrecords365 ) definitely helped relieve some pressure … it went to rent.
#Toronto is fucking expensive man, it’s bullshit.
Yesterday was a rather eventful day, and not least because it was National Poutine Day, so naturally I tried the Cajun poutine at @madisonavenuepub and it was pretty fucken good. Spiced, but not spicy. good curds, thick gravy. 4/5
Before that, Path to Harmony - The Dark Cut screened at @toihorrorfest at @eyesore_cinema .
Then @48hfptoronto film meetup (and poutine).
And then saw a block of animated short films for @thetaafi at TIFF Lightbox that had a variety of cool animation styles. My favorite was definitely one called Interview with the Dragon.
Oh, also THE DeLorean was spotted out in the wild and out of storage.
Not *A* DeLorean, but *THE* one from my last film.
And that’s all I have to say about that.
