This panel understands reuse through the capacity of architecture to remain open to change. It focuses on projects that do not prescribe a single fixed future, but instead build frameworks for transformation over time, through flexible structures, reversible strategies and spaces able to host shifting uses.

In this perspective, adaptability is not an afterthought. It is a design intelligence embedded in the project from the beginning, allowing the existing to remain active, resilient and available for future forms of life.

PANEL 4: Reuse as transformation

Reuse is not always about preserving things as they are. It can also involve opening, subtracting, reprogramming and selectively redefining what already exists. This panel addresses reuse as an active projective practice, one capable of reshaping the spatial, environmental and urban logic of inherited buildings.
Featuring AgwA and architecten jan de vylder inge vinck, with Nikolaus Hirsch as moderator.
Here, transformation becomes a way of working critically with pre-existence, not by freezing it, but by unlocking new forms of use, meaning and collective relevance.
